Back by popular demand, it’s the morning after recap. Since you can see the play by play on the live blog post, I’ll keep it relatively short and sweet…
Georgina Sparks breezes back into town, much to Serena’s dismay. Serena and Georgina meet up nonetheless for old times’ sake and have far too much to drink. Serena misses her study date with Dan and she relies on Chuck to bail her out – which he does, by telling Dan that Serena had food poisoning.
Blair is stressing about college admissions – mostly because she believes (probably rightfully so) that Yale will only admit one student from CB. And Blair wants to go to Yale. So does brainiac Nelly Yuki. Blair schemes to interfere with Nelly’s SAT testing and enlists her former swarm to help out. Blair finds out that Nelly had recently broken up with her boyfriend and invites him over to “talk” to Nelly the night before the test. Nelly stays up all night crying about her boyfriend, exactly Blair’s plan.
Meanwhile, Dan and Serena are supposed to study together the night before but she bails on him to meet Georgina. Georgina tells Serena that she wants to apologize and admires Serena’s new attitude. When Serena meets her for a drink, Georgina slips a drug into Serena’s drink. Serena oversleeps and misses the SATs. She again calls Chuck for help – and Chuck sends a fake Serena in her place. Dan sees the fake Serena check in and is concerned.
Who else checks in for the SATs? Vanessa. Nate convinces her to take them anyway after planting a big smooch on her the night before. She found Nate’s college admissions essay in his study books (that he loaned to Dan) and has a new appreciation for him. She calls to tell him and apologize for judging him and they hook up.
After the SATs, Blair and Dan watch Nate and Vanessa leave together in Nate’s limo.
Dan tries to find out what’s going on with Serena but she won’t spill. He leaves and later meets Georgina in the park by accident – where she pretends to be “Sarah.”
Jenny, of course, isn’t studying for the SATs (too young). Instead, she’s working on her homework, hopeful that her father will “unground” her and let her go out with Asher, the new boy. Rufus doesn’t let her off the hook and she is resentful. Asher shows up anyhow, hot dogs in hand. He is polite to Rufus and he is slightly impressed – slightly – and lets him stay.
Chuck – other than playing big brother – had little in the way of a story line.
Lily and Bart had no story at all.
And Erik? Well, that’s for next week…
So what did you think? And what happens next?
