CBS Network is supposed to be the one taking the reins for the 2009 Daytime Emmy’s after ABC hosted the 2008 show. According to Soaps In Depth (December 1 issue), a CBS network representative has confirmed that they will not broadcast the show next year. NATAS has offered other networks to air 2009 Daytime Emmy’s. ABC and SoapNet hasn’t commented on whether they would take the hosting job.
Wow. What’s wrong CBS? You want all the nominations to be all just CBS soaps? Coz you know, having 4 CBS actors in 1 category is not enough. It must be 5 so the chances of winning is much higher.
I’ve always wondered why the networks have abused the Daytime shows. This is only another sign that they really hate soaps.
It’s really sad coz ABC was very elaborate in covering the Emmy’s this year. They did a lot of promotions too. I hope they settle this before pre-nominations rolls out.
You know – they complain about bad acting and loss of viewers…They are not as bad as some reality shows. Gone are the days when women are able to stay home-that is why a station like soapnet is so important to keep the viewers they already have – but they are so clueless showing bad movies no one wants to see. They should just own the genre instead of treating it like a 2nd stepchild! Stop giving us poorly written teen stories to try to hook younger viewers. I got hooked (when I was a teen)by the characters and stories of all of the cast NOT just the teen stories. Accept the audience you already have and not put is in the demographic YOU want us to be. Give us good writing and you will attract new viewers. Sorry Dexie this has turned into a rant… but I love my soaps and don’t want them replaced by some bad gameshows…and who doesn’t like to watch the Emmy’s?
well what can i say CBS is finale learing their lesson the viewers dont want to watch their crap any more they have made a moccary of Y&R & BB this past year i have no sympthy for them i hope it gets cancled all together it saves all these people of having to go through so much trouble of having to deal with the paprazzi and idiot repoters i say lets lets just post the information on the acdemy’s mweb site and be done with it .
I think ABC should take most of the awards for daytime drama. All my children, One life to live and My all time favorit GENERAL HOSPITAL should at least have some nominations. there preformances are outstanding and so is the writing team. I been watching Them since 1970. I think they should have more nominations. I don’t watch anything on CBS
I dont care what network shows the emmys but I do tink that CBS has the much better soaps and if you think CSB’s soaps are crap you are flat out crazy Youg and the restless is by far the best soap on TV today I did watch Guiding light but I stoped because I hate the way they film it now its like someone is filming it in there back yard the actors are still vary good but they took Tom Pelphrey (aka) Johnthon of and he was my favorete
