If you haven’t heard of I Am Number Four, don’t feel bad. It may be the latest cult sensation with young tweens, with a movie already in production, with D.J. Caruso, Michael Bay, Stephen Spielberg and other big names attached to the project, but we had no idea of its existence either. Here are 5 things to know about the new series, of which I Am Number 4 is only the first.
1. It’s already being called the new Twilight: Despite the fact that it’s about aliens, people are already drawing analogies between the quick-read with sexy characters and high-octane plot. After their planet is destroyed by the Modagorians, John Smith (aka Number Four…out of the nine aliens who fled) and his guardian Henry end up on Earth, only to find that their nemesis’s are still out to get them. Ending up in Ohio, John falls for a young, ordinary girl named Sarah…a Bella character if there ever was one. While John tries to blend in, his feelings for Sarah set him apart. True romance…just what every teenager dreams of!
2. Yes, James Frey co-wrote it…and then lied about it: From an early NYT profile about the series, ““I think we’re all confused,” said one publisher, who had heard rumors of Mr. Frey’s identity. “I think we’re wondering, ‘Are you hiding it because you think it’s better, and if so, why are you hiding it?’
3. The movie will be full of hotties: Dianna Agron aka Quinn from Glee will be portraying Sarah. Oh, and that hot guy from Beastly, Alex Pettyfer will be playing #4. Not to mention even the adults like Timothy Olyphant – playing Guardian Henri – makes our hearts beat out of this world.
4. Aliens are the new vampires: Get used to it guys. From the website’s description, “(Sarah) is John’s reason to stop running. Although he’s become used to running from town to town, he knows that leaving Paradise will mean leaving his heart and his love behind—and he’s going to protect Sarah, protect their love, no matter the cost.” Awww!

I agree, it’s sort of depressing. I like this book quiet a bit but it seems to have become obvious that it’s going to be another of those stupid Twilight tyrants. I’m not looking forward to it. Can’t the little girls get over it by now?
