5 Facts About 16 And Pregnant’s Ashley Salazar

Ashley Salazar appears to be the only girl on this season of 16 And Pregnant who seriously considered adoption. In her episode, Ashley struggles with the decision to give her daughter Callie to adults who can raise her better. The teen from McKinney, Texas wants to become a photojournalist and move to New York. So what did we learn about Ashley last night? (WARNING: Spoilers within)

1. She got pregnant the first time she had sex with her boyfriend

Ashley and her boyfriend Justin Lane only had sex once. And broke up soon after. In fact, when she said she was pregnant pregnant, Justin thought she was lying to get back together with him. On the episode, he sounds like pretty much a jerk, and his mother kicked him out of the house when she found out he got Ashley pregnant.

But these details are pretty amazing. The time they had sex, it was Physical Fitness day at school. Also: “the day she was conceived, I was wearing an “I HEART NEW YORK” shirt.” (Ashley really wanted to move to New York at the time.)

2. Ashley and Justin almost worked things out

During her time on 16 And Pregnant, Ashley and Justin were not together – at all. The night they conceived Callie seemed like it was the first – and last – time they had sex. But they actually tried to work things out later. In the end, however, it just wasn’t meant to be.

3. She did go to New York!

But it didn’t last. After giving Callie up for adoption, Ashley got accepted at The New School and moved to New York. She writes on her blog:

“So, it’s decided.  I’m leaving New York.  I am actually trying to leave early.  The school really isn’t for me.  I don’t agree with a lot.  I think that maybe New York is just too liberal for me all together.”

Now she’s trying to move back home, and has applied to the University of North Texas and UT Austin’s Radio-Television-Film (communication) program. Hopefully she sticks with that decision, because making decisions and sticking to them is not Ashley’s favorite thing to do.
