60th Annual Emmy Nominations

Chandra_wilson_sandra_oh_01_spWell, last week I posted some information about the finalists in the Emmy nominations list, as well as leaked information from the judges tables to give us a better idea who might and might not make the finals. Today the nominations are in, and we’re in for a couple of surprises.

Greys Anatomy did not make the nominees list for Outstanding Drama Series. I mentioned in my post that it sounded like it would be an either or situation for Lost and Grey’s Anatomy and it looks like Lost won after all. While I mentioned that both Dexter and Friday Night Lights wouldn’t be there, Dexter did make the final cut after all.

Although Grey’s Anatomy didn’t manage to land a huge number of nods this year, they did get a few. As expected, both Chandra Wilson and Sandra Oh are in for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series. They’ll be going up against Diane Wiest from In Treatment, Rachel Griffiths from Brothers & Sisters, and Candace Bergen from Boston Legal.

In the Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series spot, Diahann Carroll got a nomination for her portrayal of Jane Burke.

They also landed nominations in the Outstanding Makeup For A Single-camera Series (non-prosthetic) category, as well as the Outstanding Prosthetic Makeup for a Series, Miniseries, Movie, or A Special.

So that’s a total of five nominations across four different categories. Let’s hope that the show manages to walk away with at least one golden statue.

I can’t say I’m not a little disappointed not to see Grey’s Anatomy in the Outstanding Drama Series category, nor Patrick Dempsey and T.R. Knight in their respective slots. But there are some tough contenders out there and there’s always next year.

For a full list of the Emmy nominations, please visit Emmys.tv. The Emmys will be going live on Sunday, September 21st at 8pm EST on ABC.

How do you feel about the nominees list?

sucko! how can people be stuck on an island for 4 years! hopeless.

and how come ellen pompeo doesnt get nominated? after all the show is named after her character.

also i would just like to add about all this katherine heigl rubbish. for me, i think what she was trying to say is that her ACTING wasnt really up to snuff this season. because i dont believe that a great actress like her would just crap all over the people who have given her this opportunity.

I totally agree – Ellen Pompeo should have least been nominated – and I certainly think she should have won – she makes Meredith come alive on screen – and this past year, her character has had good material!
And what I want to know is what was the purpose of Katherine Heighl making a production out of letting everyone know that she would not be submitting material? Publicity stunt! and I do believe it backfired on her!
