The Great Blog Off

Guest post by Regina Avalos

As a teenager, I spent one night a week glued to my television set watching the lives of Brandon, Kelly and the oh so fine Dylan McKay play out on screen. The show aired for ten years, and when David and Donna finally married and the series went off the air I knew I would miss it. The show has made it into syndication, but not many shows have been able to have the same feel 90210 did over its run.

Now instead of recapturing the show’s vibe with new programming, CW has decided to try to revive the show with an all new cast and an all new family moving into Beverly Hills. Some of our favorites will also appear on the series include Kelly Taylor played by Jennie Garth. She actually dropped out of another series set to premiere on CBS soon to appear on the new 90210. Ian Zeiring and Tori Spelling might also make appearances.

When I first heard about this show being brought back to life and revamped, I had my reservations. I loved the original series so much. Will a new 90210 be able to as good as the original? Will fans even tune in to watch the new series. Many of the show’s stars have gone on to other projects. Brian Austin Green was just seen this season in a regular spot on Fox’s Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles. Jennie has had her own WB series, and Tiffani Thiessen appeared for a season on Fox’s Fastlane.

The new cast has some new faces and some familiar ones. Lori Loughlin should be known from Summerland and Full House, while Rob Estes had roles on Melrose Place and Silk Stalkings. Now that is a show I’d like to see back. Bring us back Melrose Place!
