Yes, I understand you felling. You know, for me it’s like a trap in what we ended. It’s not that the show in its original form was a trap, but the way things evolved was a trap from where many persons had to escape.

For the sixth, and the seventh, the explanation is easy to understand. The new directors of the new big structure didn’t know what the show was made off. For them, it was only an entertainment like many other ones. And they pushed their reasoning in the way that they tried to fit the show in the mould of others shows, and of course, it didn’t survived. The actors tried to express that in words, but they were taken in the turmoil. As for ASP, they had to left, as for Alexis Bledel, and Lauren Graham, they couldn’t recognize their character anymore. And that was a big pressure for them, considering for instance the age of the younger. They were trapped in the new structure that didn’t understand what the show was, and even worse, who they were. A big structure that’s getting older now and still doesn’t understand anything. And, in a way, they do not have to understand it, since, it is not their cup of tea.

I hesitated before ordering the whole set. But it helped me already so much to improve my English, that, at least, I can use it as pedagogic material. Till the fifth, it really worth it, and doing English in so charming company is good.

Hmm, I see where you're coming from, that is very true the series was losing a lot of staff (who are the ones who give it the form its taking). I think there is just a part of me which would like a confirmation of what was intended by the characters. The ending, in fact a lot of the last season, seemed very... odd and out of character. I mean Lor marrying Chris, Logan and Rory breaking in less than 2 minutes (after so much time had been invested in Logan's character development compared to others). It all just seemed rushed, particuarly when we know more episodes had been planned.

The ending is in many ways the hardest part of a TV show, since if you don't end it, it can get like some where the orginal cast has left etc and the show seems to be a pale imitation of what it was before. But, on the other hand, if you end it like Gilmore was ended, leaving so many sub plots not covered, and closing many in arbitrary ways, it simply leaves the show seeming all the poorer for it since ultimently the ending is what we remember.

I mean, you can watch the earlier seasons and enjoy them but you know what will happen, you know where they'll end, which obviously effects how you view the rest of the show, in the sense that you will notice how well the show itself led to its ending. I don't think GG has delivered it's final message, since I think that would need some more detail, even if its just in the form of ASP telling us what she planned.

Sorry that probably didn't make much sense! I'm very new to all this being annoyed at the ending since I only just watched the end, I usually don't mind endings so long as they do give some closure (and are in touch with the characters!)

There is my conclusion after having think a lot, read many posts, and made some researches.
However, I received the whole set, and enjoy it the way it is, until the five, at least. It's the same with Veronika Mars, that was not achieved.

Nothing comes out from nothing or nowhere. The forces that made the show possible were coming from many sources, and were converging to some spots we could call energy spots. And there, there were some collectors, (we can call them writers, actors, producers, bankers…), that gave some forms to those forces and energy. Veronica Mars and GG came out of them. Then life went on with the merging of UPN and CW. That meant that many people and thinking were concerned and taken in the tornado, and nothing was like it was before. Those forces that were coming to UPN and CW are not the same that come to WB. The former forces and energies are now dispersed, some great supporters of the show are now involved in other projects, often elsewhere.

When someone wants something, he always has to address the right person, not a surrogate. There is no any right person anymore to address in order to ask him or her to get back the show again. That person or spirit vanished when the fusion between the two companies occurred. Of course, we may argue about what happened next about the hesitancy about the signing process, and so one, but if the right atmosphere was gone, things couldn’t go on, that’s a law.
The process of the fusion occurred while the sixth season was airing, and already we could feel the difference. It didn’t survive the seventh. The forces that made GG to happen were dispersed, and nobody was there to address, or to defend or to take it.

Now, it’s only a matter of civil matter, law matters, rights to broadcast matter, and so one. No real person to address, only legal texts that assume the process, only legal texts that receive the petitions coming from all the fans around the world, no one to listen to. It’s a kind of department of the public reaction, and those that are employed, or at work here are there to assume a function about the rating, the reaction of the public and the right way to response to them. Not a heart, not an ear, only texts, and functions: Public relation is made of that stuff. There is no message in it. There is nothing. Only some staffs assuming the role of saying NO, “we are not concerned”, in a polite way that may look like a yes, or a perhaps, but that IS a definitive way of saying NO. “NO WAY!”

But, if GG was carrying a message, it has already delivered it, so all the fans that perceived it, may have it in their own heart. As for the process that allows some special things to happen, it is still at work, and something may come out again someday, for the nature has always the capacity of renewing itself. And that process may be found in our own life, in our daily life. That’s really positive, and nobody can take it form you, from us.

Hmm I hope he's right, maybe he has heard something? I've only just got to the end of the series (UK viewer, ordered the series on DVD a few months ago) and the ending seemed a bit forced (to put it mildly)

hey--just wanted to let u guys know what i have heard about the movie. i have a friend who also happens to be the love of my life, and she is really knowledgable on the gg info. apparently, the main motivation for the movie is that amy sherman pallemino didnt like how the series ended, and she wants to make the movie so she can leave her last 4 words. i am pretty sure that lauren and alexis are close to being on board, especially because they want to know how amy plans to end the story.

also, i agree, return of milo would be AMAZING.

I hope so. Change that---It better be a great sign. I want this to happen. I have been watching for some kind of come back for the Gilmore Girls. The series finale did not suffice for me. I miss Scott Patterson, Lauren Graham, the beloved Alexis Bledel, and a hopeful (even a good 3-second) return of Milo Ventimiglia.
