It’s a tangled web, involving fellow starlets Miley Cyrus and Taylor Swift and some teen heartthrobs: Taylor Lautner, Nick Jonas and Joe Jonas. Here’s a primer on this incestuous crew:
- Miley used to date Nick seriously back in ’08; they broke up and Nick dated Selena, kicking off a catty YouTube rivalry between the Hannah Montana phenom and Selena (who posted clips mocking Miley on the site).
- Taylor Swift got serious with Joe, who dumped her in a now-famous 27-second phone call in October ’08. Months later, Taylor and Miley performed together at the 2009 Grammy Awards as the JoBros sat and watched. Cameras panned toward the Jonai to capture the awkward moment.
- Selena dated Taylor Lautner in the spring of 2009; then Taylor Swift dated him and cut him loose circa December 2009. Weeks after that split, Selena reportedly rekindled the flame with the Twilight hunk — who was totally getting passed around! Not that he minded, probably. Then Selena got back together with Nick. But that was short-lived. Selena and the singer broke up this past April. Our brains hurt!
- Selena Gomez is very good friends with Taylor Swift, despite the Tay-Tay-sharing. Demi is now BFF with Miley (who may or may not be the biggest Selena fan). Miley and Taylor are pretty friendly, it seems.
- Demi and Taylor are both friendly with John Mayer in real life and on Twitter. Make of this what you will.
More on the end of the Selena-Demi friendship, which appears to have unraveled late last Spring: Weeks after Selena and Taylor Lautner called it quits (the first time) in May 2009, Demi was vehemently denying that she was smitten for Taylor, who was starting to gain mad buzz for his upcoming Twilight: New Moon role. She and Selena were still BFFs at this point. Anyways: Six months after Demi’s denial, Tay-Tay Lautner was hooking up with Taylor Swift, who’s sort of the Audrina Patridge of this Disney/Hills scenario. Not in the inner circle of Demi and Selena (cuz three’s a crowd), the magical country princess (that would be Taylor Swift) seemed like their stepsister, and Demi’s denials of finding Lautner cute may have been a precursor to protecting her relationship with Selena. Perhaps Selena became friendly with Taylor “The Tooth Fairy” swift over their shared histories with a certain werewolf.
So what does Taylor Swift have to do with the price of bread?
Demi and Selena have been freinds but have had some problems lately……………………….
1.both seeing other people(Demi and Miley)and(Taylor and Selena and Justin b.)
2Selena hasn’t been there for Demi during hard times.
3.both very very busy.
4.When together the fun has just faded away

Honestly, teen drama sucks when it involves yourself but is actually amusing when it’s someone else. At the end of the day? Best Friend is 10 letters. So is Lying Bitch.

I’ve been best Friends with the same girl since kindergarden. Now we’re both freshmen in highscjool and live 900 miles away from eahother and we’re still neatfriends. She lives in NY and I moved to GA. I like Selena better. Demi has issues obviously now. And she’s had them. Cutting? Eating disorder? Anger? That’s why Joe dumped her!! It’s in people!!!
The way everyone acts like they personally know these girl is awesome :) *sarcasm*. I assume with Demi and Selena being 18, they have grown apart. It happens. People shouldn’t try to force their friendship.

its just sad for everyone……im sorry to say but my bet is fame got in there way…im sure it wasnt all over a boy or talyor swift….goes more deeper then that….if i had a crack at both of them gurls ill pull them by therer ears until they make up i love them both and my lil gurl likes them both…
i had a best friend since i was 9 we were inseperable and i loved her like a sister, i’m 20yrs old now, and we are no longer friends. in fact we see each other ‘s here and there, i mean it’s bound to happen we live in the same town and we do not talk we look the other way. i know it’s sad, but people change and the person you thought you knew they were, they aren’t anymore. i dont think selena and demi hate each other because i dont hate my ex best friend but they probably miss each other, but if whatever it was that happened between the two, is too damaging to repair sometimes its best to let that person go, bad breakups are bad brrakups and its hard to regain trust.

it makes me sad to see their friendship end. Personally its kind of taylors fault, she split em up. Ever since taylor talkd sht about joe (even tho she hung up the phone wen he brokeup with her and didnt give him a chance to explain) oviously demi took Joe’s side (there really good friends!) and taylor got bad so she pulled selena onto her side…wich is dumb cuz selena should have known better.
i think demi’s alil hurt in this situation cause oof the whole twitter thing and selenas family attacking her, nd tht just made everythinq crash and crumble causee theyy probably drifted,

okay Tazzy you are so right if they were best friends and they can`t work it out then there not realy best friends but i still don`t get why they can`t still be friends. And all this Drama dose not realy help! But I still want to see demi on wizards of waverly place. There prrofecinal actresses they should still be abel to work together and not have any drama gouing on. But i don`t think that cane happen when your famouse theres always drama.
