Phil Morris, as the Martian Manhunter and himself a comic-book fan, says a Justice League spin-off of Smallville is perfect.
“I think it’s almost a no-brainer because I think the audience would love it and I think the fans would love it.”
Morris was recently interviewed by If Magazine about his role as the Martian Manhunter (thank goodness I’m not green) and his take on exploring a spin-off.
Casting the Martian Manhunter as African American, and not some green-looking alien from Mars, played well with the character. The Martian turned out to be Kal-El’s guardian-watcher, someone who worked for his father Jor-El and assigned to watch over Clark’s metamorphosis into the Son of Kripton.
When I speak to Kal-El and I tell him that I’ve been on this planet longer and I understand the people better than he does, I was speaking from a real place. When you see those scenes it’s not super powered aliens talking, it’s two guys relating their issues with each other. I can play that for the next ten years, frankly, and that’s what makes this show so heartfelt.
As to getting other DC heroes into the foray, Morris comments like a true fcomic fan -
Here’s my speculation; they can’t have Wonder Woman because someone is doing that, they can’t have Batman because of the movies, and those are two of the major JLA members that they can’t use. So they bring in Martian Manhunter, which fills some of the gap. Maybe we’ll see Hawkgirl? Who knows? If they base the show in Metropolis we can all operate out of there, even though Central City is big with the Flash.
I’m an actor speaking as a fan saying that I am excited to see what the permutations will be.
Well, hopefully his speculations are correct. I would love to see a JLA spin-off. It doesn’t have to be Clark-centered, but it could feature other DC heroes here and there. Maybe then, the Green Arrow will have his day of fame.

Hello
I can’t be bothered with anything these days, but shrug. I just don’t have anything to say recently.
