A peek at the concept behind "Dark Void"

Last month I wrote about the fact that Brad Pitt’s Plan B had purchased film rights for Dark Void. It’s a movie that will be based on the still unreleased game (it goes on sale in January of 2010).

The basic premise is that a pilot crashes into the Bermuda Triangle and upon regaining consciousness he discovers he’s in an alien-infested alternate reality. Sounds like a fun game to me!

At this time there’s no word as to whether Brad will actually star in the movie (as the pilot) or simply produce it. I also don’t know if it’s meant to be a live-action movie or animated. However, a trailer has been released to show you what the game is like, check this out:

I think it looks really exciting and it’s exactly the kind of game I enjoy playing. I do think it would be best as a 3-D animated film with Brad doing the voiceover. Of course, there will still be quite awhile before anything is finalized, but I think it would be a fun film for him to do and if it’s animated I’ll bet his kids (at least Maddox if the others aren’t quite old enough by the time it’s ready) would love it.

What do you think?

This reminds me of Angie’s Sky captain and the world of tomorrow.

Sherry, I agree with you about doing it in 3-D animation. The game looks pretty exciting by itself! I would love to see it on the big screen with Brad doing the voice-over like you said.

Isn’t this going to be like “Beowulf” wherein, the face of the actors are animated, but it is still their face and voice? If it is, I like to see Brad as the pilot and of course his voice. At JJ, Plan B also has plans for a Dracula movie.

OT: Brad Pitt Teams With ‘Twilight’ Studio For New Vampire Film

FIRST PUBLISHED: December 7, 2009 5:14 PM EST
    LOS ANGELES, Calif. –

Brad Pitt is making a return to the vampire genre – this time, with the same folks who brought “Twilight” to the big screen.

Summit Entertainment has picked up the rights to “Vlad,” which is described as an action-oriented take on the iconic Dracula, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Although Pitt – who starred in 1994’s “Interview With the Vampire” – won’t star in “Vlad,” he will produce.

The film will focus on Dracula as a young prince.

Anthony Mandler – who has directed music videos for The Killers, Eminem and Rihanna – will helm the visually edgy project.

No word yet on a possible production start date from Summit, who will be releasing the third chapter in the “Twilight Saga” series, “Eclipse,” in June 2010.
