ABC Family to Air “Backstage Special”

Prior to starting in on Season 7 (yes, 7, not 8 – darn misleading ads!), ABC Family will be airing the Gilmore Girls Backstage Special on Friday June 5th at 5pm and again on June 8th at 11am.

The 2004 special was hosted by Brooke Burke and has the cast sharing their favorite moments over the first 3 seasons of Gilmore Girls. Here’s Lauren Graham talking with Scott Patterson in their backstage special interview:

Thanks Regis!

    Yeah- this special was AWFUL.

But you guys were pretty nice to Brooke. I would bet almost anything LG and AB were beyond annoyed b/c those questions were ridiculous.

She was asking Lauren, for example, how Lorelei felt when Emily snapped at her. THEY ARE CHARACTERS, THESE ARE ACTORS. The questions were stupid and the majority of every single scene was based on the first season, and this appeared to be filmed several years later.

It was definitely uncomfortable to watch, and if LG and AB didn’t really want to be there, that could have contributed, but I totally think Brooke slaughtered the interview portion with questions as though she was interviewing, Lorelei, Rory, Lane, Luke, Michele Emily and Richard. Incridibly weird and unprofessional IMO.

Seemed OK if superficial interview with the last half so overedited that they probably could have skipped it. From all the previous commentary I really expected it to be worse than it was. Kind of weird that neither Jared or Milo were included considering their contributions to plot in the first three seasons. Melissa missing also seemed strange. LG and AB seemed professional if a little distant, but we have no way of knowing whether this was tacked onto an already exausting day so hard to blame them for the end result.

I just watched the special and geesh it was uncomfortable to watch. I love Gilmore Girls and have been waiting for ABCFamily to finally play the last season. Anyway that special probably should not have aired, ever. They seemed like they didn’t want to be there. They looked uncomfortable and I felt uncomfortable watching it.
Oh well, at least we finally have “new” reruns to look forward to on Monday.

I love this clip, but Lauren seemed so mad. Didn’t she? Scott was doing most of the talking, and when they hit Lauren’s face she just looked so angry. :o(

    I always find strange too.

The support cast is much more enthusiastic, and Scott Patterson too. Yet, I fell like LG despises him in this. But I might be wrong…

Yeah I know what you mean! At a few points Lauren looks like she wants to kill someone! I wonder why they were so unenthusiastic about it?

I read before that Lauren & Alexis never did DVD commentaries or extras as they took up a large amount of their free time and they were never offered payment for it – I wonder if this could be something along those lines.

I feel sorry for Brooke Burke in it too (and that is saying something!) cos often it’s like getting blood from a stone when she asks a question!

Yeah, I noticed that too. Also, the hostess only asks some superficial questions about the show. To me it appears like she hardly knew anything about it…

I’ve seen most of this special online and its weird. The entire cast seems non-engaged. Most of the Lauren and Alexis are sitting on the end of the couch looking bored. Has anyone else noticed that?

So happy to get the chance to see this! I too have only seen bits here and there on YouTube. However, what is the deal with Lauren’s new show Let It Go? Everything I find is good news but months old and the show is listed nowhere on the ABC website! No new news and no listing as a “coming soon.” I will cry! *pathetic looking pouty face*

Oh good. I’ve watched abit online but never the whole thing so that should be fun to see. I’m happy there airing it twice, as I can not watch it friday.

I’m looking forward to watching this special, I’ve never seen it. Ah … memories!
