ABC Is 'Dismayed' At Isaiah Washington

The official word from ABC reads a little bit like “Oh no, not this again.”

“We have a longstanding policy to create and maintain respectful workplaces for all our employees,” reads a statment released by ABC Media Relations. “We dealt with the original situation in October, and thought the issue resolved. Therefore, we are greatly dismayed that Mr. Washington chose to use such inappropriate language at the Golden Globes, language that he himself deemed ‘unfortunate’ in his previous public apology. We take this situation very seriously. His actions are unacceptable and are being addressed.”

I’m wondering what they mean by ‘addressed’ exactly. I can’t imagine that he’ll be fired, so that just leaves forcing him to make another apology (which makes his most recent apology sound all the more sincere – not). He’s probably going to be sent to sensitivity training or something of the sort, where he’ll have to say, “I will not make homophobic remarks in public,” a 100 times on a chalkboard.

Lovely.

What galls me about all this flap with the Washington is that if somebody had called him a nigger in the same venue – he’s be demanding their ass on a platter – and you know it!!!!! So why is ABC not listening and he’s still being rewarded as being a member of the number one rated show on the air. It’s unthinkable. If he gets away with it – there will be NO end to it – it will be seen as something you can get away with it. YOU BET I”M ANGRY!

I do not know this for fact, and I hope I am incorrect, But I suspect Shonda Rhymes has been running interference for Washington.

As a fellow African American who knows how hard it is for a black person to get ahead in Hollywood, perhaps her sympathies lay with Isaiah?

I have found her lack of public comments on this issue condemning Washington suspicious from the beginning.

Just that nagging feeling that had T.R. called Isaiah the “N” word, and then repeated it at the GGs, not only would she have issued statements condemning him, she herself would probably go to ABC to have him terminated.

As time goes on, her lack of public support for T.R. just makes her look worse and worse to me.

Has she made statements I am unaware of?
If so, can any of you good Grey’s fans tell me where I can read them?

I don’t want to judge her unfairly.

I love Grey’s Anatomy and LOVE all the actor’s. If one is taken off it will screw up the whole show and lose viewrs. I suggest all involved sit down and hash out the differences like adults and learn how to get along. Yes, it is very bad if what I have read is true but how about resolving this issue quietly and quickly. I hope no actors will be taken off due to the affect it will have on the show.

    Washington should be fired.
He’s responsible for his own mess. Saying it once was bad enough.
Lying about it is completely inexcusable and tells me more about him that I don’t like.

As for the show, so what?
It can be made stronger with a new character.
If I continue to watch I’m not going to be thinking about the show.
I’m going to wonder why this man still has a job.

In response to JCW. There are two clear facts here 1) Isaiah Washington is a dumb ass 2) He was set up.

First, I do not condone the use of the word Faggot, however until recently I did not know it was a slur. I am very annoyed that the word faggot is being compared to Nigger. One describes one’s sexual orientation and the other has enslaved a race of people mentally, physically and socially. It clear that Isaiah was set up. It is clear that him and his cast mates decided they would lie/cover for him and unfortunately for him he thought they would do so which is why he decided to run his mouth at the GG. Now the whities living up to their true expectations stabbed him in the back. His fault is for trusting the whities and for thinking for one minute they had his back. His fault was for thinking that just because a black woman is at the helm of a top show would completely absolve him of reprimand. So, in summary. I.W. will get fired. He will be written off the show because he is considered a “diva” and because there is so much tension on the show, it will be unacceptable. So, I hope this a lesson learned for I.W. Never forget that you operate in their world and the minute you forget that, they will pull all stops to remind you that you are just a little nigger who has been blessed to enter their world.
