AC/DC and Keith Urban are Aussie Grammy Contenders

Aussie rockers AC/DC and country star Keith Urban have all bagged Grammy nominations. 20091123_zaf_d20_117

AC/DC’s Black Ice will go up against the likes of U2 and Green Day for the best rock album of the year. Their single “War Machine” is also a contender for best hard rock performance.

Meanwhile Keith’s got four nominations: best male country vocal performance for “Sweet Thing,” best country album for Defying Gravity, best long form music video for Love, Pain and the Whole Crazy World Tour Live, and best country collaboration with Brad Paisley for “Start a Band.” I’ll bet he’s glad a few of those are awards Taylor Swift can’t win!

The 52nd annual Grammy Awards will be held at Los Angeles’ Staples Centre on January 31. No doubt free to air TV will screw us over with the broadcasting yet again, but I’ll be cheering them on in spirit!

Firstly, thankyou for publishing this news on the Grammy’s – just ashame the Australian media aren’t riding on the wave of success of Keith Urban and AC/DC -and congratulations to both of them …

But, I must say I hold a very special pride in the Grammy nominations of Keith Urban – he may be the underdog grammy-wise, but he always seems to be the underdog where the Ausralian music industry is concerned, although he seems to have broken some ground as far as the ARIA’s go … But, for “our” would be if he could be, he has achieved his dream, and he has an award list longer then any other individual Australian male musician and perhaps someone needs to follow that up sometime – anytime will do, because I don’t believe Keith Urban is ready to retire, thank God …

Keith has previously been awarded two Grammy’s for male performer for his songs “You’ll Think of Me” and “Stupid Boy”, two brilliant performances off his dvd’s “Livin’ Right Now” and “Love, Pain & the whole crazy World Tour – Live”, the latter being up for the Grammy this year … I must say, I don’t quite know why KU’s performance in the last song off that same dvd, “Everybody”
was overlooked in the male performance category, but Keith Urban hardly has time to wallow in the hooplah, he’s too busy bringing his special brand of music to his audiences around the world … The rise and rise of Keith Urban is legendary and he has more than earnt the respect from his peers world-wide, but somehow, Keith Urban hardly rates here in his homeland … Let’s hope he gets the love and support he so deserves when he heads down-under mid-December when he bring his “Escape Together World Tour” to his Aussie fans …

Good Luck to AC/DC for their Grammy nomination, because they’re up against Green Day and U2 and I think Keith Urban will be backing them to the hilt – being an Aussie himself, he is a fan of the boys …

AWWWW giggles…this was the sweetest comment I’ve ever read! I’m a huge fan of Keith’s in the States and I’m so proud for him! I saw him 3 times this summer and he puts on the very BEST live performance of anybody in the business! I know Keith is very proud to be an Aussie and of his homeland. Hope his tour there goes well! Thanks for a great read!! Merry Christmas!
