Can you believe this? Here’s the scenario: a librarian in Poplar Bluff, Missouri is suing the library she used to work for along with the ACLU. Why? Because on July 21, there was a Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows release party, and the library staff were expected to dress up in Harry Potter garb to celebrate. Because of her religious convictions, she asked to be excused from working that night due to her religious beliefs and was suspended for 10 days without pay and “suffered retaliation upon her return to work,” the ACLU release said, going on to say the retaliation was so severe it forced Smith to quit.
Honestly? I can’t believe that she got in trouble for this. Why would it be mandatory for her to dress up, if that’s against her religious convictions? Last time I checked we do have religious freedom in this country, and she was just practicing her personal beliefs and got in trouble for it. What do you think?

this is stupid- she shouldn’t have lost her job for something like this. although i love harry potter, i respect those who do not like it (if they are respectful about it- not laura mallory or anyone to takes insane, idiotic movements against HP). if her religious beliefs are against harry potter and she respectfully took the evening off, there is no reason for this to happen. america is a free country and all she did was take a day off… she didn’t go out and murder anyone or anything. for heaven’s sake, people need to lighten up. what’s next? are people going to be punished for taking religious holidays off? harry potter is awesome, but this is going WAY too far
vive xe XD
