Earlier this week Adam Lambert was a guest on Oprah and gave a fantastic performance of “If I Had You”. I love that song, it’s got a great beat for dancing and it’s hard to resist singing along with it. Lately Adam has been performing “Whataya Want From Me” on most of the shows so I wonder whether “If I Had You” might be his next, upcoming single. That would be okay with me, I think the official video for that could be a lot of fun.
Here’s a clip of Adam’s performance on Oprah.
It’s been said before but it bears mentioning again: Adam has such great stage presence. In all the years I’ve been watching Idol, there have been a lot of people who have been wonderful singers but they look stiff and nervous up on stage. Adam always looks completely comfortable in front of an audience, he was definitely meant to do this.
I thought he did a really good job. Often I find that talk shows don’t provide the best sound mix, so otherwise good singers can sound a bit lackluster but Adam sounded really on the ball. It seems that Oprah enjoyed the performance too since the clip shows her singing along at 0:48 and 1:52, clapping and dancing away.
In all honesty, I prefer when Adam has his hair hanging down but he still looked pretty good with the swept back style that day!

Also, in a clip with a more serious nature, Adam Lambert recorded a PSA urging people to help Haiti by donating to the American Red Cross. He asks viewers to donate whatever they can, even if it’s only $1 to provide aid to the people who so desperately need it.
These days my favorite celebrities are pretty much any of the ones who are stepping up to help support Haiti’s earthquake victims, and I’m so glad that Adam is among them.

There is no doubt in my mind that Adam has a great big voice, with an amazing vocal register that flies way upward towards the sky. He does remind me of Freddie Mercury. I wish Adam did not have to be so careful now when he performs. Ever since that AMA situation; I have noticed him to be a little self-conscious when performing. I understand though; he doesn’t want to rattle the feathers THOSE people. This is Adam’s sophomore year in the big time, and I look forward to hearing better music- wilder music from him in the near future.
