A&E’s new series Tattoo Highway featuring master tattoo artist Thomas Pendleton takes the art of tattoo on the road.
The 13-episode, half-hour series will premiere on Wednesday, May 27 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on A&E. Watch for an upcoming contest featuring Tattoo Highway prizing right here at New to TV.
On Tattoo Highway, Pendleton and his business partner, Monica (who also is his wife) have transformed a 1970s tour bus into a swanky tattoo parlor on wheels. Pendelton (Inked) has 15 years experience transforming personal stories into living art. But now he brings his tatoo parlor to the people with the interesting stories.
“From the creation of the art, to the environment that I tattooed in, it has always been about my customers’ experience,” says Pendelton. “In a street shop it was easy to forget just how personal that experience should be. Rolling up and parking the shop right in the middle of someone’s life, well, there is nothing more personal than that.”
On Tattoo Highway, Pendleton mixes the cremated ashes of a deceased wife into the ink for a portrait on her heartbroken husband’s chest. For annother job, he uses UV ink for a tattoo only visible with black light for one man’s reminder of his mother.
I had the opportunity to review the first two episodes of Tattoo Highway. Honestly, I didn’t think I could enjoy it because I’ve never been interested in tattoos. But watching as Pendleton turned someone’s vision into a piece of art changed my mind. I could see that his tattoos truly are artwork. And in a few scenes, I was touched by Pendleton’s responses. Once he was brought to tears as he talked to a man about the loss of his wife. And in another scene, he turned a young adult girl’s vision of her tattoo from an ugly creature to a beautiful but insightful piece.

I watched your show last nite and was amased with the tatoo you gave that 54year old man and used his wife ashes in it.Could you redue one I have of my husband using his ashes.
i’m trying to get my mom a tattoo done of my grandmother’s portrait done. She reallly misses her and a tattoo would always remind her of my grandma and that close bond they had. They were inseparable like best friends and they did everything together. the hardest part for my mom was the day the doctors got my family together and informed them there was nothing else they could do for my grandma. The same day they decided to let my grandma go was my mother’s birthday, but no one realizzed it till they officially signed the hospital papers. Thanks for reading this message and i love your show.
