Alexis Bledel (Rory Gilmore on Gilmore Girls) paid a visit to MTV’s It’s On with Alexa Chung last night to talk about Post Grad, which is out today. This is a shot of Alexis leaving the MTV Studios:
Alexa asks Alexis how her apartment is in Brooklyn. Alexis shares that her apartment is basically two rooms right now and she definitely needs more room (for “clothes and shoes and stuff”). Though she likes her fashion, if Alexis had to give up all her shoes and keep one pair, she’d keep her sneakers!

They talk about whether or not the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants gang stays in touch. Alexis shares that she sees Amber Tamblyn just about “every other day”, and Blake Lively & America Ferrera fairly often, since they all live in NY now, though the latter two are busy with their shows. When they hang out it’s often at one of their homes.
Alexa asks if Alexis misses being on Gilmore Girls, after it being such a big part of her life for 7 years. She says:
“I was kind of happy to do something new. It was seven years… it was a long time. I started when I was 18, so I was ready to move on.”
Alexis shares that she doesn’t have a television. In her free time, she reads and “cooks up disastrous meals” including lots of Italian and comfort food. The interview then movies on to talking about Post Grad. Unlike Ryden in the movie, Alexis doesn’t think of herself as a “planner.” She also shares about the audition process for Gilmore Girls:
“They kept calling me back for the audition for Gilmore Girls and I remember at one point that I was sick and said ‘I can’t keep coming uptown, because I’m in school downtown, and I have this terrible cold,’ and they brought me back like 7 times before they finally figured out what they wanted. They weren’t sure what they were looking for at all.”
Alexis talks about how the audition process is like an interview and how sometimes she goes above-and-beyond to change the way she acts and dresses to avoid being typecast because of Gilmore Girls.
In a fun segment, Alexa asks for Alexis’ help in translating some Spanish clips into English. It’s pretty funny. Especially the last one!!
