Alexis Bledel (Rory Gilmore on Gilmore Girls) guest starred last night on the series finale of ER, a bittersweet finale after 15 years on the air that Alexis described as “wonderful” and “emotional”.
Alexis Bledel joined the cast as a new intern, Dr. Julia Wise. As we saw from the preview, Dr. julia Wise gets to help in the delivery of twins. I haven’t watched the episode yet (it’s recorded), but word has it that Alexis did a great job! TV.com even hinted that there should be an “ER: The Next Generation starring Alexis Bledel”! TV Guide say they “Loved, loved loved Alexis Bledel as new intern”, jokingly calling her Rory Gilmore.
“The intelligence and confidence with which she tackled her tough first day were certainly reminiscent of a certain Stars Hollow escapee. It left me wishing to learn more about how things turn out for her.”
The Boston Herald notes the symmetry between Alexis Bledel taking the role of new med student was akin to how Noah Wyle began on ER in the pilot. Of Alexis’ character, they note how she too struggled with feelings of inadequacy when a patient dies.
All in all, it was felt that the show left the way it should – leaving us wondering what the next day would bring the new, and old, characters.

i don’t normally watch ER, but because Alexis was in it i decided to take a stab at it.
this was an awesome episode, and i wish i watched it before!
A classy end to a classy show which offered the long-time fans a decent closure (contrary to some other shows…).
First, I was not particularly thrilled about AB being on ER series finale but I have to say she was pretty good.
It was so weird to see her on a different TV show than Gilmore. During the delivery scene I couldn’t help but think about Rory who was disgusted by it.
Her character was well written and had a lot of potential. It might have been worth seeing her the whole season 15.
Finally an NBC iconic show get closed out with style. Well done ER, well done Alexis.
It’s been a while since I’ve seen ER – I forgot how well written and fast-paced it is. The 2 hours flew by.
I think AB gave a fine performance – much more screen time than I expected. This was a great gig for her – she must have a good agent:)
Now Normaly i would’nt Watch any medical show, Since well I find That Doctor’s are a bunch of Quacks,Unless It was Scrubs, But Since Alexis Was it, I thought what the hell,it maybe my last chance to See Alexis & John Stomas in a Tv Show since Alexis won’t be Doing tv shows for Awhile, Hell I even Taped it & I Loved it, Well Expect for the Whole Preggers woman bleeding out, But Other Wise i thought it was a good Show, I wish they Would Do ER THe Next Generation With ALexis For Sure i would Watch It. A++++
I’m not a big fan of AB but I look forward to seeing her on ER.
I didn’t think she would get so much praise. The people who watched the episode and posted comments on the TV Guide or EW were just raving about her.
