Beth Ehlers will be showing up in Pine Valley as Taylor McBride, an Army Lieutenant who just got back from a duty in Iraq. She follows the rules to a T. She’s a no nonsense kind of woman. Beth divulged to an interview with Soap Opera Weekly magazine that the first time we see, she won’t be talking. She’s not saying she’s injured or anything, she just won’t speak.
Regarding the rumors about her as a Liza Colby recast, rumors is now whirling around that AMC didn’t give Beth the character because Marcy Walker showed interest in possibly reprising her role. I think she should coz isn’t it about time Liza visits her daughter who’s been living in Pine Valley for 3 years now ever since she ran away from her?

Anyhoooo, about her departure from Guiding Light as Harley whom she played for 20 years, Beth said after Ricky Paull Goldin (ex-Gus, GL, Jake, AMC) left, she just felt the desire to leave as well. But before she took the offer from ABC, CBS offered her to comeback but of course it was almost as insulting so in the end she said no. Y&R tried to get her as well but the moving to California was the biggest factor in saying no. She didn’t want to keep moving her kids.
Anyhooo, all’s well that ends well coz she’s not Lieutenant Taylor McBride in Pine Valley who will be hooking up with Dr. Jake Martin sometime. Soon I hope. Let me tell you why I’m excited about this new character that Charles Pratt Jr. has created. It’s timely with our political scene and Iraq war. Not only that, it’s a strong woman character that’s not all about trying to catch a Man by scheming or trying to get pregnant. It’s unlike any other strong woman on Daytime. It’s about time Military women get represented in Soaps. Beth Ehlers first airdate is July 24th, Thursday. I can’t wait!
