On tonight’s episode of The Amazing Race, the teams left the Pit Stop in Siberia and their clue told them to fly to Jaipur, India. So they would leave the freezing cold and go to a very hot climate. This has to be hard on them physically. When they get there, they have to race by taxi to a village on the outskirts, find a Sacred Tree and get the next clue. The flight attendants have to complete a Speed Bump, an extra task because they arrived last to the Pit Stop.
All the teams arrived in Jaipur on the same flight, but then started having taxi problems. Mel & Mike had a driver that left them to go ask directions and made them start far behind everyone else. The flight attendants’ cab driver had to stop to fill the tank.
On their trip to the Sacred Tree, the teams were overcome with emotions about the poverty and the conditions that the animals and people had to live in. While Luke was crying in empathy for the people they passed, Margie said that it made them realize how lucky they are.
When they got to the tree, they were told to use a telephone and dial a number for the next clue. The person’s accent was very heavy and some of them had trouble understanding the clue. When they got to the Amber Fort and received the next clue, it was a Road Block. That meant that only one team member could perform the task. They had to choose a group of camels. Then using primitive tools, they had to carry enough food and water for the entire group of camels to get the next clue. Mel had a very tough time with the task, but finished ahead of some of the younger teams anyway.
The next clue told them to race to a certain Puppet Store to get the next clue. That clue was a Detour. They had to choose between two tasks. They could either “Movers” or “Shakers“.
In Movers, they would travel to a gate, choose a cycle loaded with a very high stack of barrels full of hay, and pedal it 1.5 miles to another gate while navigating through the mad streets of Jaipur. When they got there, they had to search through the barrels to find a tiny elephant to exchange for the next clue.
In Shakers, they had to travel to a busy intersection, put on a large, bulky traditional costume and join a local dance group. The group would go into the streets and shake for tips. Once they earned 100 rupees, they could exchange it for the next clue.

During this portion of the race, the flight attendants had to do the Speed Bump. They had to make their way to a temple where they would have to use colored paint to decorate an elephant for an upcoming festival. After they completed this task, they could continue the race and try to make up the lost time.
Once the Detour was complete, they had to race by taxi to Jaigarh Fort, which was the next Pit Stop. There was man with Phil at the mat who was playing two flutes with his nostrils. (Odd…) The teams arrived in this order:
- Tammy & Victor (they each won an ocean kayak)
- Mel & Mike
- Kisha & Jen
- Margie & Luke
- Jaime & Cara
- Mark & Michael
- Christie & Jodi (they were eliminated from the race)
Mel and Mike are really surprising in the way they are staying in the heat of the competition. I really like them. And Luke & Margie are still my favorites; they are awesome and quite inspiring! Tammy & Victor are playing a bit of a dirty game, but they are very tough competitors. And now that the flight attendants are out, the rest are going to be interesting to watch they are all pretty good at the game.
So who do you like the best so far? Who do you hope goes home next? Let us know!
