American Idol 7 Top 2: David Archuleta

David Archuleta Top 2

David Archuleta performed three songs during tonight’s episode of American Idol.  I thought he did a great job.  He opened with “Don’t Let the Sun Go Down on Me” and followed that with the songwriter’s choice “In This Moment” and closed with “Imagine.”  It was a strong night for Archie and I think he has a good chance of winning.  Watch the performances:

“Don’t Let the Sun Go Down on Me”

More after the jump!

In This Moment

Well, having heardthat song sung by others on 6 prior idols and by Elton John, it seems that David dumbed down the range a bit. The low notes were higher and the high notes were lower.

Interesting. I still don’t know what people hear in him, nice sounding kid, but I wouldn’t buy his album. Uses Melisma tinstead of carrying note, guess that is contemproary way.

david’s charismatic! he’s one of the most moving performers i’ve ever seen and heard. such a great voice!

I thought Archuleta did a fantastic job tonight and I hope he wins solely based on tonight’s show.

DA sings well, always looks like he’s in pain, and is OK. No WOW factor. Seems like a nice, humble kid. Arch outpreformed my fav, Cook in the finals, IMO.
Can’t call this one – it doesn’t really matter. Obviously, neither one of these guys will have a Clarkson/Underwood career.

David A did a great job but I hope for his own sake he doesn’t win. He’s too young and too emotional to handle what’s in store for him IMO. Let him mature a bit, he still has a wonderful future ahead of him.

Thank you, thank you. I have been avoiding American Idol this season becuase they have so much other stuff on it takes away from the actual performances of the contestants. And I am tired of hearing “after the commercial”. Thanks again for providing the meat without the fat.

i guess little david had a big night. But still, David C has also th advantage of winning prior to the okay performances he had……. It is a tough fight between the two.

    David should have won!
He has the most amazing voice.
hes doing it for the singing.
    not to be famous.
    not to get girls.
to share his talent with the world.
    and i like that.

i believe the 12 m who voted for cook did it because they just wanted to spite at simon cowell so he could eat his words, not really because they believe david cook deserved to win. now it can be told, to win in the american idol, you just have to shed a bucket of tears! i hope those 12 million can sleep well now that they depriveD david archuleta the “win” he rightfully deserved.well, let’s see if david cook’s records will “SELL”.

I think David Cook won fair and square. David A has an amazing voice but isn’t as marketable as Cook. He has a lot of growing up to do before he can do interviews and other things required. He’ll do fine as runner-up.
