American Idol 8 Top 11 – Adam Lambert “Ring of Fire”

Adam Lambert sang a really altered version of Johnny Cash’s famous song “Ring of Fire” and I’ve been really hard on Adam every week but this week he TOTALLY won me over.  WOW!  I couldn’t believe it was even the same song!

American Idol Top 11 Adam LambertKara said it was all a little strange but she enjoyed the drama he brought.  She said she kinda liked it but was confused.  Paula said that Adam is true to himself, stands out and that he raises the bar each week.  Simon said “what the hell was that?”  He discouraged Adam from ever going to Nashville and said it was indulgent rubbish.  Randy said it sounded like Nine In Nails doing a country song.

Love, love, love every part of it. He just goes to another world when he goes into the higher octaves. OMG he is incredible!

    Dude:
That version of Ring of Fire was friggin AWESOME! I love the original, but also loved this version. I wonder who did the song originally (not the Cash version). I heard Randy mention it, but I heard it out of the corner of my ear, and didn’t really catch it.

I can not stand Adam. The judges have made a point of saying that no one can hit those notes and I thank god they can’t. If I wanted to hear someone shriek a song out EVERY week, I’d go hunting for a Banshee somewhere. Go Allison!!!

Whether you liked this version of Ring of Fire or not, this guy can sing! He was note perfect and when the back ground singer joins in at the end, it is incredible! This was the most entertaining performance on the show so far(In my opinion)! I cannot understand why people hate uniqueness and creativity. Did you really want Adam and all the singers to sound exactly like the original versions of the songs? What would be the point of that?
So many people hated Elvis Presley, Buddy Holly and even the Beatles when they were first starting out because they were different.
Way to go Adam – my thanks to him for being interesting and different!

    It was indulgent nonsense rubbish….

I thought that this performance was awful as well. Simon knows what he is talking about here. I was laughing throughout the whole thing because it was that bad. He actually looked possessed when he was singing.

My husband did mention the doors but we thought it sounded more like “The End” than “Light My Fire.”

I guess no one is old enough to figure out that Adam was doing Jim Morrison doing Johnny Cash.
The Adam styled impersonation was almost as if a nicer Jim had the Doors doing this song in 1967 rather than “Light My Fire.”
Well, Jim would have been a little more “intense.”

Are you kidding me?!?! How could anyone like that performance let alone love it?! I thought it was disturbing and creepy! We even had to fast-forward to make the pain end sooner! And I have liked Adam until this point. I thought last night’s performance was so awful, he will have to kill it next week to get my votes back
