American Idol 8 Top 11 – Scott MacIntyre “Wild Angels”

Scott MacIntyre sang “Wild Angels” by Martina McBride and the audience really got into it toward the end but I found it a little boring.  I feel like he also slides in and out of notes.  I like Scott but I don’t have the same level of excitement for him as I think a lot of other people do.

American Idol Top 11 Scott MacIntyrePaula said it was an impressive performance but that he needs to rely a little less on the piano.  Simon said it was a bit of a stupid thing for Paula to say but added that he doesn’t think Scott is picking the right songs.  Kara said that Scott brings class and poise to the stage.

Did you notice that, when Simon criticized his song choice, Scott told him that he has had a hard time with “hat picks” which, of course, goes back to all the rumors that contestants don’t really get to pick their own songs.  Hmmm…

  1. A “Politically Incorrect” Post About American Idol (or, Why Are We Still Listening to Blind Idol Contestant Scott MacIntyre Butcher Pop Music Each Week?)

[...] theory: Scott is off limits because he’s blind. (I am not the only one who thinks his backstory is more appealing than his vocals.) And I don’t think that makes me a jerk. Why else would Kara and Paula keep saying things [...]

I disagree. I think Scott’s music is some of the most beautiful music up there. I loved “wild angels”!! It’s “adult contemporary”…and I’m an adult (ok, middle aged). Besides, his life story is an absolute inspiration. Not many know he had a kidney transplant 18 months ago. And he’s the only one that seems to have a personality up there on stage…
