Danny Gokey took on a huge risk singing Aerosmith’s hit “Dream On.” The choice really shocked me but I always say “go big or go home.” Slash said that “it could go either way” and I couldn’t agree more!
It started a little rough but then he got into it and it’s hard to find fault with him since he tried something so difficult when this is clearly not his genre. Still, I just don’t know how America is going to respond to that.
Randy said it was alright but not perfect or great but he gave him an A+ for effort. Kara said that he had swagger and edge but believed that he took it a little too far. She did commend him for taking chances. Paula said that it was a tricky genre for Danny and it might not have been the right song for him but she gave him an A++ for going for it. Simon agreed with everyone but added that the last note sounded like a scene from a horror movie.

how is it not his fault for singing terribly? the other 3 have all sung in categories that were completely not comfortable for them, and they did a far better job than him. Giving him an A for effort or whatever is a complete cop-out. a good musician will take risks, but they’ll have an ear to know which risk has even a chance of paying off, and danny gokey’s… rendition of dream on was never, ever going to work out.
Yes, I want to be 1st with my comment..What is
it that Gokey can get away with anything like that song that he thought he was singing last night…Entertainment, I don’t think so…the rest of the show was good, he doesn’t belong in the 3 left catagories….They are always downing Adam and that is o.k. but Danny, god forbid no… and he is nothing but a church choir singer….He is terrible and thinks he is great…..
