David Cook said that he watched Chris Daughtry’s audition video for any hints on how to get through the audition round as a rocker (though, his clothing did kinda remind me of a less colorful version of Blake Lewis – anyone else?).
He sang “Livin’ on a Prayer” and I thought it was really good. A little awkward timing-wise in spots but good nonetheless.

I love the Idol auditions and I really liked David!
I don’t know, I thought he was kind of bland (and so was DAUGHTRY’S audition) and generic, but I’d rather watch this guy than a bunch of Carrie clones. There’s one more rocker they might show tomorrow; it will be interesting to see how it goes down w/ SO many rockers this year! So far I like Michael Johns the most; he’ll probably be pretty versatile.
I thought he was better than Chris Daughtry and I’m a huge fan of him so I hope this guy can pull off to the finals

I think he is the best I’ve seen so far this year. I will be curious to see how the rest of the auditions go but I think he’ll probably make the top 10 if he keeps singing the way he did in round 1.
And he’s only 25? I bet we’ll be seeing more from him on or off Idol.

David Cook has everything. I can’t stop watching him (thank goodness for tivo) and now went and looked up his original audition. I agree with Melissa; lucky girl that ends up with him. By the way, I’m old enough to be his grandmother and don’t even like rock music in general unless it’s from my generation (60’s, 70’s).
