Thanks for the flashback. I love this guys voice even after 5 years. Whenever he hits the stage he is full of charisma and that awesome voice. I love to watch him perform.
Oh, I adore this performance – one of my absolute faves of Clay’s from his AI2 days! I recently heard Edwin McCain’s version on the radio & it’s just so…. well, boring… compared to this. I think Clay manages to improve on just about every song he covers, somehow. For instance, I HATED Dolly Parton’s “Here You Come Again” all my life until I heard Clay’s acoustic, ballad version which is just too lovely for words. Carly Smithson did it on AI7, but of course, they didn’t bother to mention she was doing Clay Aiken’s version. That show never gives him credit for anything.
Cookie is right. He did look so natural so early on. I did not become a fan until years later but I have enjoyed discovering all of the AI2 Clay performances! Wow, he just seems born to perform!

Anything Clay sings is tops (imo)Ilove the way he seems to pull you into his songs. He is captivating,like he’s singing to you only.He has the carisma that’s very rarely seen in singers today.If he’s singing a sad song ,you want to cry for him ,if it’s a fast song you feel like dancing .He has that effect on you. Love him.
Thank you for a Clay moment. And, one of my favorites of his from Idol. I LOVE the leather jacket. I LOVE how he smiles through the entire song.. that smile :) I love the hand movements. And, I love how his voice sounds on this song. This is a great performence.
This is one of my favorites from AI-2. He was such a pro right out of the gate. Just watch his hand motions right at about the middle of the song. Every move is so natural, he looks like he’s done this his whole life.
I loved this performance of Clay’s.
His voice is his instrument and it is beautiful and captivating.

I love this look for Clay, the jacket, the hair color and how happy and proud he was to be in that moment. I think this was about half way through AI2.
