Perrie Cataldo, the single father who we watched audition for season 7 of American Idol, apparently has a criminal past.
TMZ is reporting that Cataldo carried a handgun into a bar in Glendale, Arizona (isn’t that Jordin Sparks‘ hometown???) back in 2006 after he had been kicked out for fighting. The arresting officer said that Cataldo was concealing the gun under his clothing. He was then confronted by security and subsequently arrested.
Cataldo plead no contest to carrying a concealed weapon (a misdemeanor) and was fined $568. Cataldo went to serious lengths on last night’s show to explain to the judges that he’d turned his life around since then. He revealed his baby mama was killed for being "at the wrong place, at the wrong time, with the wrong people, doing the wrong thing."
This does not change anything for me. Anyone can run in to trouble but I am always willing to give people a second chance because I would want others to do the same for me.
Val you really should watch what you say about folks in plain view of the world. Especially, when it makes you look like an ass. I’ve known P since High School and even though he isn’t perfect, he isn’t Satan. For somebody that “knows him personally” you sure make him out to be someone he is definitely not. For as long as I’ve known he has been singing and bringing a joyous noice to all who heard him. In the hall ways at school, at the lunch tables, talent shows, and randomly sneaking up somebody singing Happy Birthday. Once again, I’ll say he’s not perfect and I haven’t been around him in a few years, but I KNOW HIM PERSONALLY. And to attack his character, his ex, and his son; is like you’re attacking anyone that’s ever had actually “make it”out here. To say a man should be in prison is not vivid remark, it’s form of Hatred. If that is what your heart is filled with, if you can justify claiming that a child like Avion should be put through even more. Because what you’re saying, he wouldn’t have anybody. Val I’m guessing that you are one of two types of people:
1. Spoiled brat that had everything handed to you, never had to the dirty work it takes to survive. Therefore, making you bias to any and every episode that you can not comprehend even the smallest aspect of.
or:
2. Someone that has through tough times never caught a break. You’ve never taken the initiative to even attempt to overcome an obstacle in your way, because you could not foresee your efforts changing the situation. This makes you the hater that always tries to knock someone down because you feel if you can’t have then neither can they.
Well, you’re probably a #1:, but I’m hoping your a #2: because like Perrie I’m not perfect either. I have a not so perfect past as well, so what. PEOPLE CAN CHANGE! I did, its obvious that P has too. I’m Sergeant in the US Army, a veteran(Iraq and Afganastan), chest full of medals. I’m a proud father of a beautiful little girl. I’m the oldest w/ 4 siblings. I am only 25 years old. I volunteer and serve the public at holiday functions. I’m a Christian. I’m far from the kid I use to be. Like I said people can change. Don’t you think you should? If you truly felt the way you expressed, then you should have prayed for him. Even better, if you “know him personally” like you say, you should have been there to help him. To watch someone struggle and not help, then turn around and hate is trifling and you know it. You need to apologize. Do it on here or email me your apology I will make sure he gets it.

Val, it’s worse than disrespectful to talk the way you did about someone who has passed on, and moreso who left a son behind. Shame on you.
As for Perrie, everyone has a past, everyone makes mistakes. I see a man who has enormous talent, who has triumphed over obstacles, who is completely motivated and determined not to give up. He deserves the chance.
Dear son ;you r the best and I’m proud of you, dont mind the negativity that jelaous people out there r trying to express towards toy, just be yourself and keep the good things going for you. not even “JESUS” was perfect and after all he gave his life for us just like you would for yours. and for you “VAL” I wish nothing but the best for you! I just want to say I met Perrie at Famous Sam’s where him and some other guys in the group “Heat” perform. He was very respectful to me, and I am sorry he was unfortunate to not be blessed with a peaceful past. They sang Happy Birthday to me, and I thought they were wonderful. I wish him the best of luck, and I hope when I return for my yearly trip to AZ, I will get to see him singing again.

I think there are toomany judgemental ppl viewing these shows…so what if he had a past…at least he is mature enough to admit it and make a positive step…I’m from Barbados where Rihanna is from and u hear people down here cry her down for her past…they never look at the positive she is doing for herself and her family…i think Val needs a life…she actin all stuck up when she knows she probly been near that lifestyle..we all have our ups and downs…makes no sense looking down on ppl cuz dey creep up u and b4 u know it u gotta look up to dem…study it…dey did the same to my girl Fantasia and look at her now…stronger than ever..what ever happen to the right to being innocent before proven guilty…leave sweetheart perrie alone…he is tryin…i doan think he made it to the top 24 but i kno he’ll get signed…keep prayin..God Bless yall

Although I do not know Perrie personally (although I wish I did, because he and his son are absolutely BEAUTIFUL). I agree with his friends that have posted messages on here. Everyone deserves a second chance!! Only God can truly and honestly judge him, and at this point and time, he is trying to make a positive life for his son and himself. He is talented, no doubt about that at all. With his talent, Im sure he will/can go far in life. Unfortunately , no matter what is he’s doing good or bad in life. there are always going to be “haters” out there.. Its all jealousy and envy.. How terrible that someone comes on national tv to share his story of sadness and the woman he loved and to show america his talent.. and still folks from his own hometown, gotta come up on the net to hate.. Show sum luv, now.. Because regardless of what the haters say, HE’s ON AMERICAN IDOL and your not!! and to add to that. Regardless of what he has done in the past, he would be the best American Idol, because no one in the world is perfect!! So he has shown that he has matured and he is handlin thangs!!

I myself have never met Perrie Cataldo, but I did watch the interview. He was well spoken, intelligent, thoughtful and mature. He plainly stated that the period of time between her death and now have been a growing period for him. The incident with the gun was in 2006!! If you are going to bash the guy, give me something a little more current than an incident that happened two years ago. A man can make alot of changes in two years and I thought he made it clear in his interview that he had worked to make a lot of positive changes in his life for his son. And if you are going to change your life around, I can’t think of a much better reason than that beautiful little boy. I hope Perrie goes all the way to the Finals!!!

Okay The Truth shall be known…I am a friend Of Perrie …have been for a while and to Vals statment Veronica was a stripper and maybee many other things…but she did not do it for herself…Perrie did not make,nor agree with her stripping and yes she was murderd know he wasnt a pimp and know she isnt a ho…shes a deceased mother that would have and still does anything for her son….look with different eyes people…all this is is for american idol to get there rattings up they know exactly what theyre doing …think about it how many people have auditioned so far?????????? and how many are on every blog from hear to africa????…exactly only 1 and this gazzillion dollar company with outlets to all forms of media has nothing to do with all this….so whos the real criminals… I was just at Ps house today Avion his son had a beautifull smile on his face just like his mothers…so lets all just leave it at that…while the big wigs profit of death…which was there produced reality from the beginning….and yeah my spelling is not corect and i am not speaking corect english but it is from the heart

Perrie has a darker past than you all know of. He has had encounters with underage females countless amounts of times. perries baby mama did not just pass away, she was shot because a “customer” did not want to pay her. Perrie can act like she was at the wrong place at the wrong time but he knows what she did because he is the one who used to drive her to her “meetings”. I know him and his family, and let me tell you that although he can sing there is nothing “American Idol” about Perrie. He should be in prison at this time for the things he’s done that hes not yet been caught for.
