Bix (a Yahoo! company) has a new American Idol Prediction game where you buy stock in your favorite idol and who you think is going to go all the way.
How it works:
- The game mirrors the functionality of the stock market, enabling participants to “buy” and “sell” virtual shares in their favorite American Idol contestants based on estimates of their future values.
- Players predict how popular the Idol contestants will be in the future, making their predictions by buying stock in the contestants they believe will get America’s votes, and selling stock in the contestants who they believe will be voted off (note: this is a game to determine who people “believe” will win versus voting for who they “want” to win).
- Each new player gets two shares and some virtual cash to start buying. Players can sell contestants who they believe are overvalued in order to get more cash to invest in contestants they prefer.
- When players buy shares in a contestant, that contestant’s price increases. When players sell, the contestant’s price decreases.
Here’s the current break down for each idol on the game:
- Melinda Doolittle – $94
- Lakisha Jones – $79
- Blake Lewis – $73
- Jordin Sparks – $72
- Chris Richardson – $63
- Chris Sligh – $49
- Stephanie Edwards – $41
- Gina Glocksen – $38
- Haley Scarnato – $32
- Phil Stacey – $29
- Sanjaya Malakar – $23
