Melinda Doolittle went home last night. I am beginning to wonder about some of the theories circulating out there. One of the most popular is that they want Jordin to win, so in order to do that, they had to remove the biggest threat – Melinda. I love Blake and that is not meant as an insult, nor is it a suggestion that Jordin is not talented, but I can kinda see the logic. This is a sad day. To tell the truth, any one of the three going home is tragic. They were all so different and so talented in their own way. I think the absolute saddest part was Simon Cowell’s reaction. He was visibly upset by the news. I don’t know if I have ever seen him react like this:
Goodbye, Melinda. You are a class-act, amazingly talented and have grown so much as a performer. I hope to see your name in lights someday soon!

Not to worry. Mellinda will make it herself.,along with the people who must be running to ’sign’ her up,so to speak I think she was born with that great talent. It won’t be lost in smog. She shines. Contrary to some,she does have personality. She is just shy. Just look into those eyes. They twinkle and shine. God bless her. Although she has been once blessed with that range of voice, another won’t hurt.
Can you guys tell me what Simon said to Melinda when she was kicked off tonight? My DVR cut it off right before!

What the hell! What is America THINKING??? Blake is not even in the same LEAGUE with regard to singing talent. Not even CLOSE! What is going on here???? Is it because it would be politically incorrect to have two African American women as the two finalists???? I honestly can’t think of ANY other reason.
When the results were announced, Simon put his face in his hands. Then, after Randy and Paula wished her the best of luck, etc, Simon seemed very frustrated and said “Well, congratulations to those two over there [waving his hand toward Jordin and Blake] and Melinda, my commiserations, because you are truly one heck of a singer.” Maybe not the exact wording, but pretty close.
Still can’t believe she was kicked off. My vote will be with Blake, although both are talented and deserve it.
I did not expect that one at all. I was totally blown away. I think everyone was shocked at that one. We all thought it would be a toss up between Jordin and Blake…Wow…what a shocker. Simon said in ani nterview right after the show that he feels bad for Melinda. Wow…
I had sort of expected it because of Zabasearch and also because a lot of times this is when one of the really good ones does go home (Elliot, Tamyra, Chris). Still, although I am a huge Blake fan, I would have preferred a Blake-Melinda finale.
Really though, at a certain point it’s hard to see anyone go because they’re all good. That and I’m way too emotionally invested in the damn show.
This is life sometimes you have to take the Good with the bad, melinda is a a singer in her own class. she shouldn’t be disappointed at what happen last night she must reach down and draw her strength from her God that she trust. That all things work together for the Good to them who Love the LORD and are called according to his purpose. God got so much better for Melinda just wait and see.

I agree, A’kyra and Sherry. I was stunned. I really had thought this was going to be a Blake-Melinda final. That isn’t anything against Jordin, I just thought it was going to go down much differently than it did.
Eddie, I hope that Melinda does just that – take the good with the bad and turn this into an opportunity to do what she is meant to do with her talent.
I personally think Melinda was way too good for this show. Just like Jennifer Hudson was, and look where she is now. It is a shame and disgrace to see that America has voted Melinda off. Melinda is probably the best siner that AI has seen in at least two years. I would have liked to see Melinda and Blake in the finals. With Melinda’s excellent voice, soul, and showmanship mixed with Blake’s uniqueness, talent, and creativity, the finale would have been superb.
I feel like everyone figured Melinda was in so why ot vote for the one you want tosee her with.

Well, so now we all agree that the voters should have chosen both Mellinda & Blake, So I duno what happened there either. I was amazed to see Simon’s face. It was utterly,utterly unbeilable/
I think I have to agree with Linda. This actually happens every year (like someone else said) We always think that the strongest singer is safe and they end up getting the boot. But we really shouldn’t worry b/c Melinda is going to be fine.
How could Melinda possibly have lost? This is supposed to be a “singing” competition. My wife and I have watched this show since its inception and we are beginning to feel that something must be “wrong” with the vote tabulation. Perhaps the producers of the show wanted a younger contestant to win. We were very disappointed by the results, and might not watch this show again!
Linda, what an excellent point. This absolutely may have been the case especially when you consider the reaction on this site. Most people are outraged or at least confused.

Wait a minute, Mike. This isn’t all about a singing compitition. If you happened to watch THE VIEW a few weeks back they were discussing this very issue. It seems that IDOL can mean many different things. They brought out a very good point about Sanjaya. How many people both young, old, in-between even toddlers have his name on their lips. It was about how he made an inpact on the music world. Maybe personality really does play a part.
This is my last coment to this post about Mellinda. As I said. Not to worry. Simon is an entrepeneur. He discouvered El Divo and look where they are to-day. I am quite sure he will now guide Mellinda to equal if not greater stardom.
But did anyone else not see Ryan say “emotions run high as Melinda goes home”, and this was well before the results were read… the cameras panned to the 3 finalists and Melinda was sitting there with this stunned look on her face (as well she should have). It was right after Ryan visited with Elliott, and when I heard it I thought “OMG, there goes Ryan’s job”. If anyone still has it recorded go back and listen to it. I’ve not heard a thing about it and I’ve watched it a few times to make sure I heard correctly.

I didn’t know Simon discovered Il Divo. Wow. They are the best talent to come along in years. I have to say that even though Simon is a jerk, he is often right. Although I realize that Melinda may have been voted off because she is too classical (reminds me so much of Tina Turner) she is not necessarily a “pop” star. But it does make me doubt the judgement of the voters.

Somebody please send me a link or something regaurding Ryan leaking it out about Melinda….I sure didn’t hear that one, I definitely would have something to say….that’s so messed up! I know Ryan gets the results in the morning when he comes in and he is one of the few people that know the results before anyone else does but ,dang if he messed up like that he should have some sort of repercussions ….right???
