Michael Johns is from Australia and he sang "I’ve Been Loving You Too Long" and Simon thought it was a good audition and said that Michael was like a "white soul singer."
All three judges enjoyed the audition and he’s through to the next round. I think he’s adorable!

In 2006 Australian Idol was won by an Irishman. Damien Leith. He is fantastic and one of the best voices I’ve ever heard. He married and Australian girl and Australia loves him, just as Irish folk do. If Michael prooves successful America will be very happy to claim him as their own. Mel Gibson is not born i Australia either…that doesn’t stop him from being Australian. I hope Michael does well…he sounds great.

His vocal range was amazing, far better than the rest. A’kyra- many Americans are born overseas, it’s one of the things that make America great. Bob Hope was born overseas.

Yeah he surprised me….I think this year it might be a fight between folks that are not from America….between this guy and the girl from Europe (forget where)the race for the American Idol title should be called Overseas Idol!
