Star magazine is reporting that American Idol season 1 contestant, Nikki McKibbin, has suffered from a breakdown that landed her in a psychiatric ward, strapped to a bed. She has had a tough time this past year. She released an album called Unleashed last May but it didn’t do well at all. Then she lost her mother, who died suddenly in August. A source claims that Nikki said she was feeling depressed and suicidal and then said “I want to live with my mom in heaven” and took migraine medication to “dull the pain.”
Apparently, getting Nikki some help was no easy task. The cops reportedly arrived to find her half dressed with white pills in her hand. She also allegedly tried to kick out the windows of the cop car.
Poor girl. I think this can happen to anyone and I hope she gets better. In the meantime, here she is singing “Heartbreaker” (no pun intended, lol):

It is a shame that Nikki was caught as the victim in trying to drive up ratings by making her feel less talented than others.
My sympathy with her and her family. She was on the show too soon. After season 4, most idols have managed to make a living in show business.
