America’s Next Top Model Cycle 9 Auditions

According to Reality TV World, more than 8,000 women tried out for Cycle 9 of ANTM. That’s quite the turn-out. Women were camping out overnight for their chance at stardom.

“There are girls who get on their hands and knees and cry, cry, cry,” said casting director Michelle Mock-Falcon. “Some girls say they have ‘it,’ but they don’t know what ‘it’ is.”

The height cut-off was 5’7″ and not an inch shorter. Girls were turned away who didn’t make the height requirement regardless of how much ‘it’ they had.

I wouldn’t even have made it past the door, at 5’2″. Heh. Reminds me of the carnivals where you had to be so tall to ride the rollercoaster.

Anyone out there show up to the auditions? How was it?

if AMTM does end girls like me, 13 and want to be a model badly, will never be able to be on the show. even if they dont end it i think they should have a show for teens.

thanks :) are you going to audition? i hope so. you seem like a very intelligent girl, deserving in a sense. have a merry christmas and a happy new year, dear.

Courtney, you seem to be a sensible girl who is determined to go for her dreams; level-headed unlike some.

I completely understand your sentiments. Even though I do not closely follow the careers of the past contestants of that show, I am aware that some/several/a lot (?) of them (even the non-winners) have received projects in modeling, television, and other related fields. And have done quite well. The television exposure on ANTM does help a lot.

The prospects are all very exciting, indeed. Yes, go for your dreams without leaving a stone unturned. In my own pursuits as a part-time model (mostly print; ramp during the summer), college lecturer, and copywriter, I am ambitious and a go-getter.

As much as I find certain aspects of ANTM superficial, frivolous, and sensationalized, I have to say that the rewards are huge. The show can result in a truly rewarding and high-paying career for some contestants whose hearts are really into modeling. All I’m saying is that modeling is unpredictable, so you have to have a back up – a college degree.

I can go on and on and on…haha! But I will stop here. This is just an advice from a concerned fellow human being. Girls, as in the words of shainaevashaina1, “bring ur A game”.

jessa-while i understand and commend your viewpoint on obtaining a substantial education, some “impressionable young girls”, such as myself, i’m assuming, have dreams to chase. and we will stop at nothing to attain them. antm is such an incredible opportunity for so many girls, even for just the purpose of attending a casting call. many girls use modeling as a stepping stone to other things, such as theatrics, designing, photography, etc. and while the show may glam itself up for publicity purposes, it hold true to it’s name by offering the winner a new life as america’s next top model. that in itself is enough to make me want to atleast try.

Girls, finish college first before joining that show, which, in many ways, is superficial. Let your degree be your fall back just in case the competition doesn’t result in a prolific career for you (granting that you get chosen).

Honestly, I feel a little upset about ANTM’s glittering effect on many impressionable young girls like you. The question I’d like to ask is, How about the value for education?

i think once the dates near, more locations will be posted for casting calls. last season, there was a casting at a small mall near my hometown. they’re all over the place girls. no worries. i hope to see you all in the house :)

CW usually advertises about the next Cycle when their are 3-4 girls left in the house. Good luck ladies! I am so glad Tyra created Americas Next Top Model. I hope that more Cycles of the show will be taped. Watch out America “Crystal” is an undiscovered jewel.

Yeah! That’s what the production staff were saying during the audition. ANTModel ends with the 10th season. So sad! Why don’t you girls just join Survivor, The Apprentice, or Amazing Race.
