The nominees for Nickelodeon’s 22nd Annual Kids’ Choice Awards were announced today and America’s Next Top Model is nominated for “Favorite Reality Show.” ANTM is up against American Idol, Are You Smarter than a Fifth Grader? and Deal or No Deal. Idol won the category last year.

Voting for the KCAs will begin on Monday, March 2. You can vote online here and via a mobile website. Each day between March 2 and 6, a different category will be highlighted on air and kids will be able to vote in that category that day.
I love ANTM, but am hoping that takes it home again. I’m a little uncomfortable thinking that young girls are watching -and initiating – a lot of what happens on air on ANTM. Idol is as over-the-top and dramatic as Top Model, but it is a bit more wholesome and family friendly!
Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is hosting the awards show, which will air live on Saturday, March 28 at 7pm EST.
I remember watching and loving this awards show as a kid. I watched it again a few years ago and did not get it at all! I guess I’m getting old.
i personnally think that there is nothing wrong with teens watching ANTM. true, there is some stuff that would be best if they didn’t see, but kids learn that stuff anyway. some girls watch it because of the art and talent involved. they do commercials that the girls can comment on, they get to wear expensive clothes that girls can be in awe of (or laugh at), they can be all like ‘omg, did you hear what elina said?’, and, in truth, some of the contestants act like 15 year old girls, maturity wise. there are PLENTY of things that are on ANTM that aren’t appropriate but then again, some things that are. i don’t think it should be nominated for a teen choice award, but i think that teens should be able to watch it.
So true, Matthew!! A thousand times worse! I’m sure what I liked as a kid was just as horrible. I just must be blocking it out of my mind!
