You’re not in a dream, Gilmore Girls fans! In a chat with Mike Ausiello of Entertainment Weekly, Gilmore Girls creator Amy Sherman-Palladino reveals that not only is she in touch with Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel, she has not closed the door on a potential Gilmore Girls film in the future. She tells Ausiello:
“If I thought it was definitely not going to happen, I would say, ‘No, it’s definitely not going to happen,’” she adds. “I would do that for you, my friend. But I don’t want to say that. Because I think that the beauty of Gilmore, and the beauty of family relationship shows is, you never really run out of story. You’re going to battle your family until you’re all in the ground. Those things never resolve, doesn’t matter how much therapy you get. Ten years later, there’s still going to be [material] there to mine and to delve into.”
She also says she’s never watched the final season, which she was famously not involved with and that she wanted “different things” for Rory Gilmore. What different things do you think those are? And now that Amy’s said this, are you more hopeful about seeing the Gilmores on the big screen?

I think that the Gilmore Girls fans deserve a movie after the rushed unsatisfying final season…we have watched for years as Luke and Lorelai made their way to each other only to have them barely reconcile at the last moment. Rory and Logan were a great couple and we were led to believe that Rory saying no to a proposal would be the last time that they would see each other? Logan has fought for Rory and their relationship before and now we are to believe that he would just roll over and do nothing…the Logan that we have come to know and love would never give up so easily. I was so upset at the ending we received on this show…there are way too many long time devoted fans to just let things be done the way that they were. Give the fans what they want and deserve!

Oh My Gosh RORY & JESS!!!! i want them to reunite soooooo badly!!! This movie could make all of my hopes for them come true!!! Please put Rory back with Jess!!!! They are meant to be!
Also i want to see a Lorelai and Luke wedding. Most of all though RORY AND JESS! i believe that they truly love each other and just needed time to find themselves. Now they can finally be together!!!

I wish they would do a movie as well….but I think that Tristan should reappear on the scene. Rory and Tristan had a chemistry together!! It
would be good to see how he turned out, too. He just disappeared.
I think that Lor and Luke should be married and who knows, maybe Lor and Rory
would end up having kids at the same time. The possibilities are endless!

I’ve been watching the 7-seasons boxed set (which looks like a Barbie doll case – very cute), and didn’t know until reading all of these comments that the creator of the series (ASP) was not with the program right up to the end. That does explain why it got kind of ‘rougher’ at the end. Which is a shame. And which is also why I don’t think a GG movie would work. Unless ALL of the actors for all of the characters are the same, it feels fake. I’m still freaked out about Kirk being called “Mick” in season 1 before they decided to call him Kirk, and that Kathy Baker played Mia in the episode where she gets married, but Mia was played by a different actress in an earlier episode. I hate when they do that!

Lol, Tweetybird,
I agree about Kirk. I like to believe he was going through a phase of trying out different names or maybe he hadn’t been prescribed the right medication yet… lol.
The two Mia’s are too noticeable as well.
Not to mention Sherilyn Fenn playing two parts… Sasha and Anna… but hey… *shrug* :)

It must have an end. If Amy cares at least a bit with the GG fans, she will do the movie. It is very said to follow the serie, episode by episode, for eight years, anxiously expecting the new season and… It’s over without a proper ending. Gilmore Girls was not a short serie. It got us involved and it is a major disappointment when all your loyalty means nothing. The show ends out of the history context.
Weather the seventh season was rubbish or not, I (as a fan), felt even more rubbish with the way it ended.
Please, Amy, give the world a proper end. Finish GG!

I would LOVE a Gilmore Girls movie where Rory & Logan get married! They were perfect for each other and really balanced each other out. They should NEVER have split them up – it was a horrible way to end the series. Please fix it!

This SO has to happen! My mom and I adore gilmore girls! We first started watching it when I was about 15 and in that tough teenage ‘I hate the world, but especially YOU mom’ phase (I’m ashamed to admit it, but yes, I was the stereotypical angsty teen) and it brought us a lot closer and made me stop fighting her tooth and nail on every little thing and made her stop trying to push me in ways I obviously didn’t want to be pushed at that particular moment in time. Everyone we knows who has seen the show tells us we’re just like them (except a tad more x-rated, we ARE from Southern California after all…) and we take that as a major compliment! We bought all the dvd sets as soon as they came out and would have Gilmore Girls marathons where we just lounged around in jammies with junk food and watched them all. It would be great if we could do that again, from start to finish, but this time with an actual ending!! I’ll sign whatever you want, just make this movie happen!!!

I would love to see a GG movie, maybe they can make it so it is an ending that would make the show feel over because Season 7 did not end in that manner and i have been hoping and praying since i seen season 7 that something would change and that there would be more. so please do something!!!
