NB: If you don’t live in the Eastern timezone or whatever … I will have the results at the end of this post in a couple minutes … you’ve been warned.
Started with "Through the Rain …" which was nice. Nice was to start … then they gently roasted the judges. Hee hee. The Simon roast was best.
Looks nuts in the finalists’ hometowns.
Starting off with Princess P and … Al Jareau! Sweet. "In this love together …"
I’m wondering though, can I keep this up for two hours? I wonder if they have amphedimines being pumped into the seats in the theatre?
Nice opening song from Paris.
And we have the first, of undoubtedly many, commercials … time to pour a drink.
Next up Chris and Live (the band) … you know I wish we had a more rockin’ song from him, but hey.
Oh, no. Wolfgang Puck and Kelly … this poor woman. Trying escargot … gawd . Wolfgang Puck forces her to try one … and she spits it out! Oh dear.
Ah Katherine and Meatloaf … Meatloaf isn’t lookin’ too good there … I’m not into the whole Meatloaf duet as drama thing. Way too overacted. Good thing the voting is over. I like the singing okay, but Katherine is seriously flaunting her "assets" in that dress … kinda distracting from the matter at hand … singing. She did sing well, though. My am I being a little snarky tonight!
I think it’s because I’d rather there be like an hour of good, non-over produced singing and find out who the winner is.
The Golden Idols? An award spoof? OMG the worst idol try-outs. Help me, help me now. My ears are bleeding!
I guess we need comic relief.
And continuing on that theme … Puck and Pickler … Kelly is freaking out over a live lobster. Oy vey.
Hmm the boy are doing BTO’s Takin’ Care of Business … man I home Randy doesn’t have satellite … actually I know he does. Chris is doing an awesome job of it, the rest … um, no. Tobacco Road .. okay, Chris and Bucky did an okay job. Don’t stop thinking about tomorrow … you know, I hate medleys. Just sing the dern song, just one of them, please! Okay, okay. They are doing a good job of this last song. But they are also singing it together.
Elliot’s mom won a golden idol … and she got to intro him singing U2’s One Love (One?) … with Mary J. Blidge. It’s good. Elliot’s into it … but I think there might have been better songs to choose for his mom to intro. Regardless, I think she was proud … as she should be.
Oops .. reading Joey’s blog … forgot to pay attention to the singing going on … guest on … lovely voice, which is probably why I could just slip (Kelly Underwood) into reading mode.
Taylor is doing some serious singing with Toni Braxton. Yeah, okay I’m awake now.
The girls have started off with Man, I feel like woman and now "I’m a woman" (bring home the bacon, fry it up in the pan) … now Natural Woman … man great songs … Now … I’m every woman. Okay enough guys, enough with the genre songs. That was a good medley though, as medleys go.
Some guy who tried to get on acting like Clay Aiken … wins one of the Golden Idols … singing Don’t let the sun go down on me … and then Clay comes out. And Clay is had a bit of a make over.
Fun though seeing this guy flip when Clay came out.
Okay 30 mins left and I’m still going … whew.
Hey, Jeremy and Jesse … where the heck are you?
Idols singing Bert Backrat (sp?) song … what the world needs now .. Taylor and Kat starting things off. Hmm, Ace doing look of love … umm, he is doing a good job … oooh the woman … who’s name I’ve forgotten … okay she’s good. Nice. Nice.
Bucky doing raindrops falling on my head? Eek. Okay he’s doing okay. I missed Pickler’s song doing Qumana support (multitasking).
Okay, man I can’t keep listening doing tech support, answering my comments on other blogs, and type. Eek.
Elliot is belting out a song something awesome. I really hope he gets a good contract. As much as he wasn’t my fav … he’s good.
Talk about the American song book … all these songs are classics and the Idols are (mostly doing them justice).
Dion Warwick just did an awesome set. Wow. She is the diva’s diva.
Ryan says results are coming up next … yeah right. Next and three more commercials I bet!
Okay this "best male bonding …" sigh. Brokenote Cowboys. Hmm.
Prince … since he’s using his name again. Damn he’s still good after all this time … I don’t recognize the song … but hey, who cares.
As Prince sings his second song … I’ve always wondered … are the visualizations in the background just from a juiced up version of Windows Media Player?
And now … Taylor and Kat are singing …"Time of my life" … you know they are both doing a great job and I think regardless both are going to have great careers. I see Taylor doing the soulful crooner thing and Kat doing sexy pop ballads. And with three mins left …
The winner is:
63.4 million votes. More votes than any American President has ever received. Okay that’s scary.
TAYLOR!!!!!!!
And Taylor wins it all!
He’s singing us out (going a little over time) with his first single and he’s doing a much, much better job tonight than last night.
No doubt, he deserves it. Sure Kat does too, but now it’s Taylor’s time to shine.

“Idols singing Bert Backrat (sp?) song …”
I believe that’s Burt Bacharach =p
But yeah. Hooray for Taylor Hicks!
