As many of you will remember, there was a lot of talk that Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie did In Vitro Fertilization to conceive twins, and even rumors that they had purposely chosen to have one boy and one girl. IVF is a wonderful advance to help parents who are struggling with infertility, but it is not usually taken lightly. Also, while IVF has helped many families, and is thus a positive thing, the problem was that the tabloids and blogs were twisting it into something negative, saying they were controlling how many babies they had and whether they were boys or girls. That was why I refused to post about it at the time.
However, in the interview, Hello asked them directly and Angelina cleared the air.
There were reports that the twins were conceived through IVF. Would you like to comment on that?
Angelina: If they had been conceived through IVF we would have been happy to discuss it. But we have been fortunate never to have had fertility problems.
I know not everyone is going to believe that, which is fine. But I have to figure, Angelina is so outspoken and so blunt about everything else in her life. If she had indeed had fertility problems and they had gone the IVF route with a successful outcome (after all, there’s no guarantee!), then I feel pretty sure that she would have talked about it with pride and honesty.
So, I guess the tabloids will have to put their thinking hats on and come up with some new garbage instead!

Hi Sherry,
I definitely didn’t believe the IV rumors. For starters you can’t determine the sex of the fetus/zygote so early on and people don’t realise that it is a very invasive procedure and takes a while depending on the sucess. I know because I’ve looked into it.
Angelina would have had to take injections every day to stimulate her ovaries. This is quite dangerous as someone go into hyperovulation syndrome which people have died from.
You then have to harvest the eggs and then fertilize them and then do the embryo transfer. The success rate is about 43%. If it doesn’t work the you have to do the whole process again. It also takes months for it to work and then you’ve no guarantee that the embryos will be healthy.
The tabloids make it out that they can just buy these babies off the shelf!!!! Absolutely ridiculous!

Now that I have seen the photos, I am dying to read the interview. Can any of you post the whole interview or links to sites that have it please? Thanks.

Sherry, thanks so much for keeping us so informed. Angela, was sorry to read about your accident. Were driving or a passenger? Hope you recover quickly. Lucy, have a safe trip and enjoy.
BradPittWantsMe, this is the casual Brad, when not working he does his own thing, which is the crazy hats and his goatee. I like that they all appeared casual, there was no running around and getting everyone dressed to kill. Well maybe Zee, she looked like she had a pretty blouse on, but that is Zee. Kids being silly as kids are, to me just a very very happy family. I am a big fan of Marc Anthony and Jennifer and I was very disappointed in the layout of their twins. Too staged and not at all like the Marc I have always read about. Oh well we all have different ways of seeing things, but I guess we all agree that this is beautiful and happy family.

Anyone who believes that a fertile couple with no known secondary fertility issues will just go in for a quick round of IVF is certifiable. It’s a long, painful process and I don’t know anyone who would do it if they didn’t absolutely have to.
As for conceiving twins, the inheritance factors come 100% from the maternal side. Twins on the father’s side of the family have no effect on whether twins are conceived or not. Identical twins is a completely random occurance, while fraternal twins are determined by the mother releasing two eggs during ovulation instead of just one. Just for interest’s sake. :-)

I never doubt about the twins being conceived in natural way, I’m glad Angie addressed that gossip, she is honest in everything she does & did. Just happy for all of them, what a remarkable family. I’m still at awe seeing the twins pictures & the whole family, really a very lovely pictures. I have to get my copies tomorrow.

julia, i don’t think such an interview ever transpired. otherwise, it would have been all over the blogs and news, and i believe us weekly would have added a quote from just such an interview to support their recent headline about the jolie-pitts … i think. i’ve never really read that us issue about the so-called in vitro, but i imagine, the article was no different from us weekly’s other “oh so credible” stories about the jolie-pitts.

i’m sooo glad angie addressed the IVF issue but i think non of the loyal brangelina fans believed it! In late 2006 Angie did an interview with Diane Sawyer for TGS. Sawyer asked Angie if she was pregnant – there were rumors she had gotten pregnant a few months after giving birth to Shiloh. Angie said she was not pregnant and that she was on the pill. Then she said they would adopt next.
And adopt next they did in the spring 2007. So she was probably still on the birth control pill when they adopted Pax in 2007. Then she went into filming Wanted. I doubt a woman whould want to get pregnant while filming an action movie. Then she went into filming the Changeling. So I think she stayed on the pill until close to the end of filming Changeling.
She probably stopped taking the birth control pill in October or November and got pregnant around that time. So common sense shows she and Brad have no problems with fertility.
I think some of the older actresses who have given birth for the first time at age 35+ probably used IVF, but not Angie. She is open and candid about her life. She told Diane Sawyer she was on birth control pills – how many other actresses would have courage to reveal a personal thing like that. That’s why Angie’s interviews are so refreshing. They are unique in their frankness. And she has such a good heart. She is courageous and yet vunerable. All of that comes out in her interviews. And reporters know that – so they ask her questions that they know others might shy away from. They know she gives good interviews because she is so open and vunerable.

Unfourtunately, neither people nor hello mag is sold in my country. I hope Brangie fans can buy at least one copy of mag to support those beatiful family.
I never visited Us weekly site because they are JP haters and they make stupid Brangie polls in every week to get attention.

^^^good point other brangie fan. she was so open about taking the pill (which was probably looked down on by some of her naysayers) that there would have been no reason for her to hide or lie about an in vitro if they had chosen that route.

I feel a little for Madness – he may be feeling a little like kids born on xmas, kind of overshadowed on his birthday. Imagine, he was the emperor his first 2-3 years with all Angelina’s love and attention focused on him. And he’s been such a generous and welcoming brother to each of his sisters and brothers.

First, thanks for this great site.
As for IVF, there is nothing at all wrong with it, but as most of you have said, why would they need it? I think the tabloids just need to write something that is controversial and seems to bring them down a peg, though again, nothing wrong with IVF.
If US magazine had just said they had IVF and left it there, it would not have bothered me. But they made it seem selfish and ego driven…Brad wants a son and coerced Angelina to have the procedure. (Any MD who would do it for that purpose is not ethical and should lose their license.) Angelina did not want the “stress” of sex with Brad, but did not mind surgery?!?!? That should have been the first clue to how dumb the story was. Again, it is not like having a tooth pulled. It is hard, painful and not guranteed.
But US knew there would be a great and true story when the pictures were printed and they wanted to spoil the “happy” party, so they got what they wanted. Hits on their site, mentions on blogs, sales, and doubts in many peoples minds. They have to have known People would ask the question and knew their story would be proven false, but they had already planted the seed of doubt and that is all they wanted. (Look for trashing in the next few weeks from tabloids though. They are jealous of People and will do what ever it takes to make them, Brad, Angelina, and their family look bad.)
But life is sublime for Brad, Angelina and their family, and that is the most important thing. Hope Maddox has a great birthday, but I have a feeling all of his days are pretty good.

The magazines “non-credible” ones that do not believe in ethical issues and decencies in their articles, will make something out of nothing. I don’t care if JPs have sextuplets? They are the most loving and thoughtful family I have ever seen. Their commitments to one another as partners, their children and UNHCR are outstanding. Others in Hollywood and the unreliable magazines need to wake up and do something decent for a change.
