Angelina Jolie and Clint Eastwood have Enough Rope

Awhile back, Angelina Jolie and Clint Eastwood did an interview with Enough Rope‘s Andrew Denton during their big press run. The interview aired this week and now that it’s available on YouTube, I can share a clip with you.

Unfortunately the clip is only a little more than five minutes, even though the full interview is longer than that. In this one, Clint talks about how stardom has changed in his time and how he was filming a scene outside and he couldn’t get over the amount of people lurking about with long lenses, just trying to get photos of Angelina Jolie on the set. He said he doesn’t recall anything like that in the earlier days of Hollywood.

Angelina also talks about the misguided thought that they “auctioned off their babies” when they did the exclusive first photos. Again, she re-emphasizes that they had two choices – to let the paparazzi grab the first ones and pocket the cash or to control it all so that they could take the money and put it to good use through charities.

You can also read the transcript here on the official Enough Rope website.

Thank you to all the readers who emailed me to let me know!

Thank you for the video Sherry! It was really great. I´ve always liked Clint Eastwood but after this I like him even more. It was wonderful that she straightened the twin photo thing. I would have hated the idea of the paparazzis taking the first photos of these beautiful twins. Now the proceeds of the photo shoot went to a good cause via their Jolie/Pitt foundation. BTW. Has anyone seen this weeks´ tabloid rumors in In Touch and Life & Style about Angie being pregnant again? I think it´s been a quiet week in Brangelina front and they have nothing else to write about. It was good that her rep denied the news. They want more children – that´s obvious – but not right now. The twins are still so young and they´re planning the next adoption. So the next JP child will most likely be adopted. Get a life, tabloid writes!

I love how Angie straightens out the purpose of the twins photos. The tabloid writers (or insiders)really die whenever she speaks the truth on these interviews.

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone! What great inspiration, Lili May. Thanks, Sherry, for the video and link – now I have to go back to listen to the audio.

In Contention interviewed screenwriter J. Michael Straczynski: “[Clint Eastwood] did something quite unique with Miss Jolie,” he continues, “knowing that the paparazzi would hound the poor girl, he did everything humanly possible to separate the film set from that world. He shielded her, protected her and created an atmosphere where she was free to create and do the sort of work she became famous for doing before all this tabloid nonsense came about. I think she did an incredible job in the part. She reminded us of the fact she was always an actress first.”

What a great interview! Very educational. I like Clint even more after this interview. I like the interviewer’s suggestion to Clint “May be you can adopt Angie”. I think she must be very happy to have Clint as her father as she loves and respects him so much.

Happy Thanksgiving to all of you!

I fortunately was able to watch the whole interview twice. It just reinforced my opinion that she is one of the most genuine, intelligent and down-to-earth celebrities around.
Andrew Denton always does the best interviews because he does real research instead of using the trashloids as his source.

Thank you Sherry for the video clip and link to the article! I don’t get tired of hearing or reading Angie’s interviews. And this one with Clint is just great. You can just see their mutual admiration and respect.

Off topic, I got one of those inspirational emails from a friend and there’s one saying that caught my eyes and thought how it applies to Angie. It says ” Should you find yourself the victim of other people’s bitterness, ignorance, smallness or insecurities; remember, things could be worse. You could be one of them.”

Thought I’d share this to all you wonderful Pittwatchers. Have a Happy Thanksgiving Holiday!

Thanks Sherry, it always so interesting to watch or read these interviews. I saw Changeling on Sunday and it was wonderful. I pray it will receive the awards it deserves. Also, I can’t wait to see Brad’s movie. It is getting some many rave reviews already.
Happy Holidays, to Sherry, your family and all of us here at Pittwatch. This is a wonderful community to belong too.
