It looks like 2010 is shaping up to be a busy upcoming year for Angelina Jolie! According to an article in Variety (which is quite a reliable source), Angelina is in talks with Ridley Scott to star in an exciting murder drama named Gucci.
The story follows the femme fatale character Patrizia Reggiano – the character Angelina will play if she signs on – who plotted the murder of her ex-husband Maurizio Gucci and was later sentenced to 29 years in prison for her criminal scheme.
It sounds like a lot of intrigue and would be a very interesting character for Angelina to play. It’s not like Angie has never played the sultry femme fatale before, but she doesn’t often play someone who is an outright criminal villain – even Fox in Wanted and Jane in Mr. & Mrs. Smith had redeeming qualities beneath the surface.
Variety is reporting that director Ridley Scott is aiming for a 2010 start date, which is pretty vague, what with 12 months in the year and all, but it’s a little something to go on at least. It also says that he has approached actor Leonardo DiCaprio to be in the movie though no formal negotiations have been confirmed yet.
The article also refers to the film The Tourist as being a movie that Angelina will “likely” star in sometime in early 2010. If filming moves swiftly, Angelina could do The Tourist early in the year, take several months off after that (other than promotional obligations for Salt), and then film Gucci in the last couple of months of 2010.
I’m so happy with all of this recent movie news! While I most enjoy seeing Angelina Jolie as a mother and humanitarian worker I can not deny that I love to see her movies, and knowing that Salt is coming out next year with two new projects on her plate… well, that makes me rather happy indeed!

I became spellbound to read of this new movie opportunity-maybe for Angie, but then when I read that the femme fatale character Patrizia Reggiano gets a sentence of 29 years for the murder I wasn’t so happy as I like a ‘happy-ending’, and certaily hate the idea of Angie’s character facing that prospect at the end of the film !!
For halloween, maybe all the Pitt grandchildren will get together for this annual occasion – what fantastic fun that’d be for all the family!! Jxx
kim – I too, would love to know what the JP kids will dress up as this year. I remember that one of the older boys dressed up as a Star Wars character two years ago. Shi sure will wear something that fits her current tomboyo look (ha ha) and Zee will probably wear something more girly. Hard to say what the twins will dress up as since they still are so little that they still hardly know the meaning of Halloween.
I wonder what they will dress up as for Halloween if I recall it was Star Wars last year, or maybe that was the year before.
cassie – I just read about that Jackson kids´ car accident and was shocked. Thank God nothing serious happened but these things still are terrible. I, too, am happy that whenever the Jolie-Pitts are in LA they don´t take the kdis out so often. The paps are out of control there. It could have happened to Brad and Angie too but thank God is hasn´t and hopefully won´t. After this I don´t blame Brad and Angie for spending much of their time in France. There they can be left alone and have some privacy. In LA it´s impossible. God bless the JPs!
Mary Ann- They did indeed go Trick-or-Treating in their gated community last year, and I think you and Irma are on to something. I’ll bet they’re back in LA so the kids can go Trick-or-Treating on Halloween. :)

i am starting to feel guilty now for looking at pictures of celebs, knowing that most of those pictures were shot by these paps.
I bet the family are back in L.A for the children to enjoy Halloween & dress up.
Kristen………..I bought the book ” Scarpetta Factor ” by Patricia Cornwell because Angie was attached to the project ( hopefully it’s true) just like Atlas Shrugged, I bought & read the book because of Angie. I will start reading it after I’m done with my project at work so I am talking about in 2 weeks. I will let you know how the story suits Angie’s.

I agree with you to Sherry, but when I read those nasty statements they still upset me. Angelina is dammed if she does and dammed if she doesn’t, so I guess she can never win with some people. On the good side I am so happy she is doing the movie, can’t get enough of the Jolie-Pitt family.
I heard about the pap’s and Michael’s children. This is really getting out of hand. I was thinking yesterday that maybe the family is here in LA, which would be cool for the kids to be able to do trick and treat. Correct me if I am wrong but I think they were in LA last year and the kids went out in their gated community. I also agree with the comment about the Scarpetta books. I have read them all and the last few were not as good.

that the have 6 kids does not mean that they should stop working. as long as they handle both that great – no problem.they know best what to do.
Kati I don’t know if you heard about the accident involving Michael Jackson’s kids and the paparazzi thankfully no injuries . I’m glad we don’t see the JP kids when they are in LA. Although I would love to know what they are dressing up as for Halloween.
Sherry, I could agree more with you. when she or anyone does interviews they say stuff and maybe they mean it at the time, but things change and ideas and thought change. I would like to point out that she still works less then most woman even ones that have as many kids as her.
I’d definitely like to see her in this kind of movie.
irma – I began reading the Scarpetta series once I heard that Angie was rumored to be attached to it. I really enjoyed the first few books in the series, but then they went completely downhill. The writer switched from first person to third person several books in, and the stories just weren’t interesting anymore.
I really wish that Angie will make this Gucci movie. It sounds really interesting. But my guess is that before she will start shooting The Tourist or Gucci it´ll be Papa Brad´s turn to return to work. I truly hope that Moneyball will finally start shooting sometime late this year or early next year. But more than that I hope that the family can still spend some quality time together either in France or LA or NO. Maybe the whole family has flown to LA and will stay for a while. I don´t blame Brad and Angie for keeping the kids inside the house whenever they´re in USA. The paps would be haunting their pics and screaming at their faces all the time. That´s why the family certainly loves to spend so much time in France. There they can have some peace and quiet. God bless the JPs always!
Someone at awardsdsilyforum left comment that Scott and Co. met Matthew Weiner (creator and writer for Mad Men and The Sopranos) this week. If it is true it could be meant to talk about rewriting Gucci. Mad Men has not come to Japan yet but I read it is a dynamically entertaining drama about 60′s. I hope the meeting was for Gucci and I also wish Weiner will accept rewriting the script.
Angie and Brad are both multi-talented. Haters will always say negative things. So be it. Congrats Angie, if this is true.
I think she’s the right choice for the role if this story is really true, no one else but Jolie :D
I think the family is back to LA to prepare Brad’s new movie. Even if Angie will sign The Tourist(if appropriate director signs) the director needs several months before shooting starts. It will not start before next spring. Right now neither German directer nor Angie have signed yet. The German director took 4 years before shooting the superb ‘The Lives of Others’.
Gucci is less sure thing. Only Fox2000 is eager to make this film next year with Ridley Scott and Angie. Scott has more awaited projects like Alien4 and Monopolis. Even if Angie will sign this movie it will take much more time before shooting. My guess is Kay Scrapetta movie takes some time but Fox2000 does not want Angie snatched away by Sony. So they are showing alternative project to Angie. The best thing about these reports is movie studios and top-notch directors want to hire Angie and movie financiers are willing to give their money to her projects.
