It looks like 2010 is shaping up to be a busy upcoming year for Angelina Jolie! According to an article in Variety (which is quite a reliable source), Angelina is in talks with Ridley Scott to star in an exciting murder drama named Gucci.

The story follows the femme fatale character Patrizia Reggiano – the character Angelina will play if she signs on – who plotted the murder of her ex-husband Maurizio Gucci and was later sentenced to 29 years in prison for her criminal scheme.
It sounds like a lot of intrigue and would be a very interesting character for Angelina to play. It’s not like Angie has never played the sultry femme fatale before, but she doesn’t often play someone who is an outright criminal villain – even Fox in Wanted and Jane in Mr. & Mrs. Smith had redeeming qualities beneath the surface.
Variety is reporting that director Ridley Scott is aiming for a 2010 start date, which is pretty vague, what with 12 months in the year and all, but it’s a little something to go on at least. It also says that he has approached actor Leonardo DiCaprio to be in the movie though no formal negotiations have been confirmed yet.
The article also refers to the film The Tourist as being a movie that Angelina will “likely” star in sometime in early 2010. If filming moves swiftly, Angelina could do The Tourist early in the year, take several months off after that (other than promotional obligations for Salt), and then film Gucci in the last couple of months of 2010.
I’m so happy with all of this recent movie news! While I most enjoy seeing Angelina Jolie as a mother and humanitarian worker I can not deny that I love to see her movies, and knowing that Salt is coming out next year with two new projects on her plate… well, that makes me rather happy indeed!

UNDER MOD (again) – my thoughts about this.. :)
i have posted something about Angie doing the Gucci film in my last post.. but it’s in moderation so i thought it would never be heard.. haha! but thanks Sherry for this one! :)
Gucci sounds like a dramatic film, maybe like the one she did with Eastwood.. oh my, i’m so excited! the rise and fall of Maurizio Gucci is an amazing story.. i think Angie is having a break now after filming SALT, from March to maybe December.. then early next year she will start filming The Tourist, promote SALT and do Gucci.. maybe that’s why they are in France for how many months, so she could take a break, spend time with family, then work afterwards.. whatcha think? :D
I can not wait to see her upcoming two new moives. That’s great. Angie is beautiful star.
Though she said she will do one movie a year, if good opportunity & great movie offers comes along, why not take the offer? I’m sure, she & Brad talked about their schedules. It sounds like The Tourist & Gucci will be good movies to wait for in 2010. I was tempted to buy Scarpetta book by Cornwell today, since Angie’s name was also been attached to it, Iam curious about the story. I may buy it tomorrow & read it.
Hello to everyone. God bless the Jolie-Pitt family.
She did not “promise ” she would do one movie a year. And for all we know she may be doing only one movie next year. She only did SALT in 2009. So give her a break. Also, Brad and Angie always coordinate their work so his projects must be moving slowly. Well I am sure Angie will get paid a pretty penny. I am sure Papa Pittt doesn’t mind that. They have six kids, three homes and lots of security to pay for.
Ridley Scott has many wishful thinkings. He wants Leonardo DiCaprio all the times. Once it was Russel Crow and now it is Leonardo DiCaprio. But Leo is busy with other great directors right now. I can say Fox2000 plantd their wishful idea about casting Angie and Leo on industy PR paper, Variety.
my comment is under moderation.
Both of Sony and Fox2000 want Angie early next year. From Fleming’s writing I guess Angie picked up The Tourist over Gucci but Fox2000 still has hope since Angie will turn down The Tourist if an appropriate director will not found.
Ridley Scott has many projects in his mind. Gucci is one of them. Paramount first wanted but later passed this one and it landed at Fox2000. This film has been developped for 3 years and nothing until now. Fox2000′s top Elizabeth Gabler and Carla Hacken also developing the script for Kay Scrapetta. They are still developing the script and I think it will need more time.
Variety’s Freming first reported Angie’s involvement in The Tourist and 2 days later he reported about this story. I guess Fox2000 rushed to leak this story to Freming in fear of losing Angie to Sony’s The Tourist. In this economic circumstance even Cate Blanchett can not open movie alone.(her and CAA’s project was postponed). It’s difficult time for talented actresses like Blanchett, Theron etc. Movie studios only want leading man’s love interest. It’s interesting to read Angie’s global popularity attracts female tops like Sony’s Pascal and Fox2000′s Gabler.
I don’t know, I think at some point we have to stop being concerned about what people who dislike her are going to say about her decisions. If Angie doesn’t care, neither should anyone else. She suggested that she’d probably only do a movie a year but it wasn’t set in stone or anything and the people who will jump on her for that would simply find some other thing to complain about anyway.
UNDERMOD- My thoughts about this.
Interesting indeed! Unfourtnately, I have a feeling the h8ters will have a field day if she DOES do both this movie and The Tourist next year. They will probably pounce on her for not doing only one movie a year like she promised. :(
Sounds like it could be an interesting role for her.
It’ll be interesting to see which movies Angie is actually going to make. There are so many possible projects with her name attached floating around the web. Not surprising considering in the last five years her movies have either been box office hits or earned her major award nominations.
Thanks Sherry. Here’s something I thought you might find interesting regarding her humanitarian work. It’s a link to the National Center for Refugee & Immigrant Children which Angie helped create. Credit: bdj

i hope this is true and i hope Angie will accept/make this project. it’s seems like a very interesting movie – mysterious and i bet there’s drama too. Scott is a good award winning director so i am excited for this movie.
