I’m really enjoying the discussion post – as always, I have the best readers here at PittWatch because other than an occasional drive-by comment full of nothing but useless nasty snark (and luckily you don’t have to read it!), it’s been extremely civil even though not all of us agree with each other. Please come drop by and keep the conversation going!
In the meantime, here’s something a little more positive than the new issue of Vogue – how about the new issue of The Envelope with Angelina Jolie! Put out by the L.A. Times, The Envelope covers Angelina as a mother, mentions her humanitarian visit to Afghanistan, her work on Changeling, and her feelings on Hollywood vs. the rest of the world.
“I don’t dislike it here. I just really do love to travel. I love other cultures. And I love raising my kids in the world. I’m so fortunate that I get to do that.”
They also point out that being a celebrity is Angelina’s second job – after motherhood: “The center of my life is my kids.”
When asked about her role as Christine in Changeling, Angelina said:
“Christine fought so hard under such incredible circumstance for the rights of other women. It was a real story that I thought sent a positive message about what you can accomplish. About democracy in action.”
The Envelope says that it seems that she’s had a string of mother-centric roles lately, but Angelina said she thinks it’s got less to do with the fact that she’s a mother herself, and more to do with her age, and that once you get into your 30s there are more movie roles for women that revolve around family interactions.
(Still, right though she may be, I personally think that her incredible love of being a mother translates very well for her roles.)
If you aren’t in the Los Angeles area and can’t pick up your own issue of The Envelope you can read the article right here.

i visited perezhilton.com and on page 5, he has some interesting article about Jen contradicting herself:
Vogue 2008:
* What really rankled Aniston about the piece was that Jolie felt the need to recount a detailed timeline of exactly how her relationship developed on the set of Mr. & Mrs. Smith, while Aniston was still married to and living with Pitt. “There was stuff printed there that was definitely from a time when I was unaware that it was happening,” says Aniston.
Vanity Fair 2005:
* “She wasn’t naïve,” says Aniston pal Kristin Hahn. “She’s not suggesting she didn’t know there was an enchantment, and a friendship [between Pitt and Jolie].”
* “I don’t think he started an affair physically, but I think he was attracted to her,” says Courteney Cox, who vacationed with her husband, David Arquette, and the Pitts on Anguilla just before they announced their separation. “There was a connection, and he was honest about that with Jen. Most of the time, when people are attracted to other people, they don’t tell. At least he was honest about it. It was an attraction that he fought for a period of time.”
Vogue 2007, Angelina Jolie’s actual quote:
* “Because of the film, we ended up being brought together to do all these crazy things, and I think we found this strange friendship and partnership that kind of just suddenly happened. I think a few months in I realized, ‘God, I can’t wait to get to work.’ … Anything we had to do with each other, we just found a lot of joy in it together and a lot of real teamwork. We just became kind of a pair.”
Vogue 2008:
* “Well, it never was that bad,” she says, knowing that it will be hard for a lot of people to believe. “I mean, look, it’s not like divorce is something that you go, ‘Oooh, I can’t wait to get divorced!’ It doesn’t feel like a tickle. But I’ve got to tell you, it’s so vague at this point, it’s so faraway in my mind, I can’t even remember the darkness. I mean, in the end, we really had an amicable split. It wasn’t mean and hateful and all of this stuff that they tried to create about Brad can’t talk to Jen and Jen can’t talk to Brad because this person won’t allow it. It just didn’t happen. The marriage didn’t work out. And pretty soon after we separated, we got on the phone and we had a long, long conversation with each other and said a lot of things, and ever since we’ve been unbelievably warm and respectful of each other. Whoever said everything has to be forever, that’s setting your hopes too high.
Vanity Fair 2005:
* “Am I lonely? Yes. Am I upset? Yes. Am I confused? Yes. Do I have my days when I’ve thrown a little pity party for myself? Absolutely.
* “I don’t feel like a victim,” she says. “I’ve worked with this therapist for a long time, and her major focus is that you get one day of being a victim—and that’s it. Then we take responsibility for our own input. To live in a victim place is pointing a finger at someone else, as if you have no control. Relationships are two people; everyone is accountable. A lot goes into a relationship coming together, and a lot goes into a relationship falling apart.
* “There’s a sensitivity chip that’s missing,” she says.
Vogue 2008:
* These days, the public fascination with her relationship with Vince Vaughn seems almost quaint. I ask her if there’s anything else to be said about that time. “I call Vince my defibrillator,” she says with genuine affection. “He literally brought me back to life
Vanity Fair 2005:
* When she arrived in Chicago to film The Break-Up, the gossip media, frantic for a new development, immediately plunged her into a torrid romance with her co-star, Vince Vaughn. This affair apparently does not exist.
* “I adore Vince Vaughn, but I’m not going out with Vince Vaughn,” she says. “I barely know the guy. We’ve exchanged a wine-and-cheese basket for the start of the movie, and we’ve gone out to dinner with the director and other people. We’ve got to get to know each other.”
LOVE ANGELINA SOOO MUCH!
Jennifer Aniston’s latest comments about Angelina Jolie are just SELFISH!
Cant Jen just see that Brad & Angelina obviously met for a reason!? Look at the beautiful loving family they now have together!! Jen should be content with her own life right now and happy that she still isnt married to a man who wasn’t in love with her anymore! Jen is acting childish and selfish in this vogue interview and the cover looks like a trashy star magazine quote! SHAME ON YOU JEN! YOU ARE THE ONE WHO IS VERY “UNCOOL”!
I wish that Jen would just be happy for Brad’s beautiful new life and not go over the past in interviews over n over again.
Why cant Angelina talk about how she met the loving father of her six kids?
Totally lost respect for Aniston- who I have been a fan of for a while. It’s a real shame. I thought this stupid “war” was over!
LOVE JOLIE- always!
This article was too short. I don’t mind, but the reporter/author just didn’t seem to care about writing the article. It was bleh.
There is a new picture over at JJ of Angelina. She looks great as always but completely exhausted. She is obviously professionally made up, and you can see how bone tired she is. I think that makes me like her even more.
I thought the same thing about the article and I was going to mention it at Just Jared but, you know, war and all…. Anyway it sounded to me like the LA Times were sucking on a lemon over the whole article: choice of photo and the interviewer sounded like he had a stick up his…

Angela – no, that photo’s not from the cover, it is indeed a KFP red carpet picture. :)
While the article didn’t have much substance, I did really love the part where she said she had no idea what she was supposed to be doing when she was there to present the award to Clint. I can just picture someone who is sleep deprived and jet lagged standing around asking, “um, what? What do you want to me to do now?”
Jussi, I agree. In fact, I sent a letter to the editor:
Hmm, pretty insubstantial and disjointed article to back up such a large cover picture of Angelina Jolie – sure to drive up sales. I suppose the first paragraph was to differentiate the Times from other generally more complimentary accounts of Ms. Jolie. (Did the reporter fact-check about the publicist? Every other report I’ve read confirms that Ms. Jolie is the rare star who has no publicist.) Of course she has a manager and stylists, they are necessary to her work, just as pen and tape recorders are to reporters. Of course, Ms. Jolie was there to talk about Changeling – that’s in her contract as part of her job. Of course, the reporter was there to get the story on Changeling, and in particular to get it from Ms. Jolie as opposed to Mr. John Malkovich because she sells more newspapers. Let’s not pretend the reporter was doing Ms. Jolie any favors. If anything, it was the other way around.
hii
I always love how Angie express herself in her interviews.
hi sherry

not crazy about the pictures(but angelina was very tired coming up to this interview) and did any-else find the interview a bit short and not much new info?
