Here’s a great way to kick off your weekend with a smile – over at Brad Pitt Watch I read that a school in Taiwan was teaching children to write in English. To put their work into practice, they all wrote letters to some of their favorite celebrities, including Angelina Jolie, Daniel Radcliffe, and Will Smith.
In their letters they wrote about how much they loved the stars, the movies they had seen, and asked questions. Before sending them off, they also drew pictures and added their own photos. Many of the Angelina fans drew pictures of her face or scenes from their favorite movies such as Tomb Raider.
The teacher explained that it was just for practice and for fun and that no one – not even the kids – ever expected replies.
They were pleasantly shocked when every single one of them received an autographed photo of Angelina in reply. Daniel Radcliffe, it should be noted, was just as kind and did the same thing.
I love it. I know that Angie may not have been able to take care of it personally, she probably had someone help her out because celebrities generally don’t have the ability to keep up with their own fan mail, but you can probably bet that she was the one who asked that the replies go out – because you know how easily children touch Angelina’s heart.
Between my local news show and the stuff that generally headlines CNN and the like, there’s a lot of depressing bad news out there, so hearing a happy story like this just makes my day.
Read the full story on the teacher’s website, where you can also see photos of her students with the signed pictures.

I haven’t visited this sight in ages, but I wanted to say that this was a great story to read. I currently live in Taiwan (Taipei City) and I know without a doubt that those children would have been over the moon to have received the autographed photos not only from AJ but other stars as well. People tend to be very modest here without thinking too much of themselves and will often go out of their way to help others and expect nothing in return. Any type of praise given to people here is easily dismissed with a bashful shrug and gifts given freely are often accepted with shock and embarrassment. So to receive something special like that and out of the blue for simply writing a letter would have been most sincerely appreciated with tremendous smiles and heartfelt gratitude.

We also haven’t seen pictures of Angelina with her kids since the same date.
And we haven’t seen pictures of Brad with the kids since March 6 and March 16.
Why? Simple. The paparazzi can not get them.

This is certainly a heartwarming story. The content is near and dear to my heart since I was born in Taiwan and adopted by an American couple when I was a year old. It’s wonderful to see how Angelina Jolie and Daniel Radcliffe respond to children’s correspondence. It also shows how teachers can make a difference. Thanks for posting this story, Sherry. You just made my day.
