susan, you made some excellent points! I didn’t stop to think that maybe the reason for going to Vietnam to adopt was because Cambodia had stopped allowing adoptions, and I didn’t realize that about Africa.

I thought that maybe they might adopt from Namibia since that country seems to have special meaning to them, but forgot that Namibia might not have a “legal” international adoption system.

If the Jolie-Pitts are indeed in Ethiopia for Christmas, that means they managed to sneak out of LA and into Ethiopia without the paps or the media knowing about it. As far as I know, there are no pap pictures of them leaving and/or arriving at an airport.

Then again, despite LA being the paparazzi captiol of the world, the J-Ps seem to be able to sneak around fairly easy there, since we rarely seem them while they’re there, and even when we do see them in LA, it’s almost always just Brad and Angie. Also, they seem to be able to be very sneaky when they want to (case in point: the media didn’t know about Angie’s trip to Afghanastan a few months ago until after the fact, and Angie and Brad managed to get Knox and Viv home from the hospital after there birth without the paps noticing!).

Considering the fact that Brad seemed relucentant to disclose where they’re going to spend Christmas, I’m not surprised that they appear to have snuck into Ethiopia unnoticed by the media if that’s in fact where they’re spending Christmas.

Anyway, I have to hand it to them! They are very good at giving the paps/media the slip when they want/need to!

Okay, this is a bit off-topic, but I really need to rant. On another blog I frequent (which also moderates comments), there was a discussion recently about celebs selling the first photos of their babies to PEOPLE, OK, or whatever magazine (it was actually brought up in a Naomi Watts post, when someone praised her for introducing her new baby to the public by simply going out in public with him, and mentioned that they wished more celebs could be that way).

I pointed out that I think it’s actually a neccesity for some celebs, and used Angie and Brad as an example. Well, basically, I found out that some people STILL think Angie and Brad shouldn’t have sold Knox and Viv’s first photos, and that they were exploiting the twins by doing so.

Then they used Nicole Kidman, Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck, Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale, and Naomi and her fiance Liev as examples of celebs who haven’t sold the first photos of their babies. In similar discussions, I have also seen Halle Berry used as an example.

It infuriates me when people try to compare the above mentioned celebs to the Jolie-Pitts. None of those celebs are nearly as famous as the J-Ps (and Gwen and Gavin are bad examples to use to begin with, as they DID sell Kingston’s first photos to OK. It was only with Zuma that they didn’t sell the first photos).

As some other pittwatchers have pointed out in the past, the only celebs that really even come close to the amount of media attention and pap intrusion that the J-Ps have to deal with are Tom Cruise and his family.

It also infuriates me that Angie and Brad’s comments about the paps trying to drill a hole through the ceiling of their hospital room, and the fact that some paps in cameo gear broke into their property, all just to try to get the first photos of the twins, aren’t enough to convince some people that in their case, selling the first photos of their babies was probably a neccesity.

Maybe I’m being over dramtic here, but I really feel that, if Angie and Brad had taken Knox and Viv out without first doing the photoshoot, someone could have literally gotten hurt (if the paps were willing to drill a hole through their hospital room and break into their property, I can only imagine what else they’d be willing to do for the first photos of the twins!).

That makes me think, would people have actually prefered Angie and Brad to put the twins-and their other kids-in danger by taking the twins out without first doing a photoshoot?

However, one good thing came of all this…It gave me an idea for a discussion topic here on PittWatch. I think we should have a discussion topic about the J-Ps decision to sell Shiloh, Pax, and the twins’ first photos. I think it would make for a very interesting dicussion!

Oh, and I forgot to add that people also fail to realize that while Ben and Jen didn’t do a photoshoot with Violet, Violet is also one of the most (if not THE most) photographed celebrity children. I mean, the poor girl constantly gets photographed getting dropped off and picked up at school (just like when the paps took pictures of Pax and Zahara going to school nearly everyday while the J-Ps were in Prague in 2007)!

Also, celebs also seem to get slammed for NOT doing photoshoots. I mean, look at all the nasty comments Tom and Katie got when they didn’t do a photoshoot with Suri right away. The same thing happened to Britney Spears when she didn’t do a photoshoot with Jayden.
