Just for fun, since the Academy Awards are tomorrow night, I thought I’d share a video clip of Angelina Jolie’s Oscar acceptance speech when she won for Best Supporting Actress in 2000 for her role in Girl, Interrupted.
Naturally there will always be people who will have something snarky to say about Angelina and James but I loved her speech. She was so genuinely surprised by her win and she was so full of emotion for everyone that it was a wonderful, natural, real thank you speech.
I do apologize for one thing, the audio is not properly synched to the video and frankly that drives me a little nuts, but it was the only one I could find right now. Hopefully we’ll get to see her do another acceptance speech on Sunday night, but if not, at least we know she did win that year and it was definitely well-deserved!
Oh, and if Angie doesn’t win, then I think Meryl Streep might. Also, as much as we want Angie to win, I think, if she saw these comments, she’d tell us to root for Brad.
She even said recently that she’s honored to be nominated, but is really rooting for Brad as he’s never won before (whereas she HAS won a Best Actress Oscar before).
If she DOES win, I wonder if she’ll thank the kids in her acceptance speech?
Lucy- They’re going to the Oscars. JA is going to present the Oscar for Best Animated Feature. Of course, they may very well go to the pre-Oscar party as well.
Anyway, I don’t think we need to worry about them meeting. I haven’t watched the Oscars too often, but when I have, there seems to be quite a bit of time between the Best Actor/Actress award and the Best Animated Feature award.
Therefore, I’m guessing Angie and Brad will have already either won or not won by the time JA presents, or vice versa. I’m guessing that JA will be escorted directly back to her table after presenting, and ditto for Angie and Brad if they do end up winning.
Even if they all attend the same Oscar party, I doubt they’ll bump into each other. They’ll probably won’t be seated near each other, and with so many other people there they probably won’t even see each other.
Also, the timing of arrivals and such usually seems to be well spaced when two exes are going to be at the Oscars (for example, that was the case a few years back when both Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman attended the Oscars).
In anycase, I doubt Brad and Angie are losing any sleep over it (Brad seems to still be at least somewhat friendly with JA, and Angie is friendly with both Johnny Lee Miller and Billy Bob Thorton, so she obviously understands how and why that can sometimes be the case.)!
All of that said, I think James and Angie are still close. If I remember correctly, he was even seen taking Maddox to the hospital in Nice to visit Angie when she was there awaiting the birth of the twins.

As much as positively as I can, I believe the “poverty and corruption” politically themed Slumdog movie will win big tomorrow. I am a romantic myself and would pray for CCOBB to win best picture together with a lot of internet and radio surveys voting CCOBB as their best picture choice. In 2000, critics in the fashion world said, Angie looked like Elvira. Funny, Brad bought Elvira’s house in Hollywood Hills which he reconstructed when he had his growing family. In 2000, he got married to JA. I think, Mickey or Sean will win and Kate Winslet too. Is JA and JM going to the Oscars or the pre-Oscar party?
She’s so sweet in this video. Angie thanks her father too , which is very touching. Sometimes family life is hard and now she has a lovely one!

I don’t think will win tomorrow. I will wait until my husband goes to bed and then I will check in. I have gotten to the point that I just depend on Pittwatch to keep me up to date. Thanks for the great job you do Sherry.
I will only watch the Oscars RC because of Brad & Angie, if they are not going to attend then I won’t be watching Oscars at all.

About the Oscar producers decision to let X be a presenter, I think, is very insensitive to the feelings of the other nominees. Now, the show is not about honoring the best in the movie industry. It has become a showdown between the protagonists of the tabloid fueled “triangle”. I do feel sorry for the nominees. It is bad enough being nominated in the same year as Brad & Angie who gets the lion’s share of attention, but to add insult to injury, have the X as a presenter. I have nothing against having all three meet, but not in this manner. I am sure the TV ratings will go sky high, but I for one, will not be watching.
James Haven was at the premiere in 2008. I think they are close just busy. I rooting for Angie and Brad. Its almost like who needs to watch if everyone knows who the winners are going to be already. Hope there are some surprises :)
angelina has not fallen out with her bro. they just have their own lives now. angie has brad to lean on and i think james H was at the changeling prem in NYC in october 2008.

Does anyone know if Angelina is still close to her brother? They were close then but now we hardly ever see them together, I was wondering if they had a falling out.

I watched Girl Interrupted on dvd & I would say Angie deserved that award, Changeling she deserves it too but it seems right now everything is political. I hope, Brad & Angie wins. Can’t wait for tomorrow. if they will not go, I am not watching Oscars at all.
