Be still my beating heart. Have you seen the photo of Angelina Jolie breastfeeding on the cover of W? It is gorgeous, intimate, and a peek inside the real side of their lives.
I can not WAIT for the full magazine to come out!

Does anyone know when the issue comes out?
I love the photo and I think it is very artistic and tastefully done. It was shot in such a way that you can barely see that Angie is breastfeeding. Photography is one of my hobbies and I love taking pictures in black and white. There is something about the play of light and shadows that I find interesting and compelling. I can not wait to see more of the photos!
Hmm, to all those who are wondering why they chose to show the public such intimate photos.
Well it’s one thing to choose what people see, what you want them to see. (We do only get a peek into their lives, no matter how many magazines they’re in) and it’s a whole other matter when those moments are taken from them, without their concent. (paparazi pictures. etc.)
they’re gonna be in the public eye no matter what.
The picture is beautiful. I feel honored that they would share their lives with us like this. I put my subscription in about 1-1/2 weeks ago, so I sure hope I get this copy. If not I going to head to a book store as soon as I know it is out. Because like People this is going to go fast.
i’m not keen on the cover. i don’t mind that it’s an image of a mother breastfeeding, but i think maybe there may have been better ones (breastfeeding or not) to choose from the contact sheet … maybe. on the one hand, the cover is a bit reminiscent of old life magazine covers. i do think this shot was very tastefully done. angie’s breathtaking, as usual.
Ligaya – you are correct – i work for a photographer and when his wife was pregnant he took many nude photos of her belly, and they were also beautiufl. I think Brad and Angie will treasure those photos forever, and being a fan of photography myslef, I think Knox and Vivienne will cherish them as well when they get older. we are very lucky that they decided to share them with the world
Thanks for the link, Rita. :-)
We all have different ideas of privacy, e.g. breastfeeding in public – when I was growing up in the Philippines, it didn’t matter where – jitney or wherever – when that baby demanded feeding, their mothers fed them. The moms would unbutton their blouse, put the baby to her nipple and then cover herself with a handkerchief or similar thing. Nobody thought anything of it, it was just part of normal everyday life. Even the priests had no objection. Most of the mothers on celebritybabyblog are thanking Angelina and W magazine for taking breastfeeding out of the closet.
I think Brad and Angelina are balancing privacy and the public’s demands. Look at us, in every thread don’t we say we want to see their photos? They’re throwing a bone to the monster with the huge maw to keep it from invading their life completely. It also may be their way of countering all the vicious rumors of breaking up, post-partum depression, forced therapy, etc. Pictures tell a different story from all the tabs’ headlines and h8ters’ comments out there. They haven’t invited us into their homes, as other celebrities have done; they’re not in a reality show. And Brad is taking the photos, not some pap.
Brad probably considers his photos his work of art – I agree with him. Many artists – photographers, painters, sculptors , writers, filmmakers – portrayed the women and children in their lives (often nude), do we consider that a betrayal of their loved ones’ privacy? So it’s a continuum from 100% privacy to none.
WOW! So sweet and so nicely done.
This is a set of photos that Brad took himself susan I believe they wanted the world to see them as they see themselves, without the makes lights or the stalking photos you see from the paparazzi
I do think the photo is beautiful, but I am a tad confused as to why they wanted to share such personal and private moments on the cover of a magazine? I’m not really criticizing them (because they have a right to do what they want), but I was surprised they decided to do this…they appear to really enjoy their moments of quiet and calm without flashing cameras…it just seems so completely personal (breastfeeding is that special time when mother and child bond)…maybe not moments you really want the entire world to see…so, my question is- does anyone know why they decided to agree to share these photos with the public?
I think it’s a beautiful photo. To be honest you can barely tell she’s breastfeeding – we’ve seen more skin on many other people, and she looks beautiful – i think even more than when she’s “made up” at premieres, etc….
Om the W magazine website, there’s also a blurb about Brad, The Perfectionist…take a look:

absolutely tastefully done, that photo. There are polls on various sites asking us to vote as to whether that photo should be on a cover of a magazine or not. I think it’s a great endorsement of breastfeeding (if one is able to do so).
Beautiful.
