We’ve heard rumors of Demi’s coke problem, and it being the cause for her rehab stint, for a while now. However, the new angle that really intrigued me was how the only way Disney could combat it was through distraction. Apparently the Mouse House was helpless to actually stop Demi because she was so overbooked with Sonny, her Camp Rock tours, her other music career, etc. In order to keep the press off Demi’s trail, they played up Miley’s “scandals,” though according to thedictatorscut the worst Miley did was start drinking around 15 or 16 and smoke a lot of weed. (If anything, she was just awkward on dates, since one of the poster’s friends went out with her and all she did was babble about her net worth to try and impress him.)
Meanwhile, Demi’s addiction was getting out of control, and there was no one to rein her in. Her mother was useless:
Her mother did nothing. Demi was her cash cow and she wasn’t going to screw that up. That mom is as bad as Dina Lohan – constantly texting, ignoring her kids, selling Demi’s relationship gossip to blogs in order to make some quick cash. She wouldn’t travel with Madison (her younger daughter who plays Eva Longoria’s kid on Desperate Housewives) and never visited her on the set. As for Demi’s recent rehab stint… call me cynical, but I’m still 50/50 split on whether it was legitimate or just a PR stunt in order to A. get her off her Disney show (which never had phenomenal ratings) and B. give her then-floundering recording career a boost by giving her something to “overcome.”
Wow, the part about fabricating a challenge for her to overcome, as a music star, is something I’d never considered, but that fits so well.
For the most part, thedictatorscut writes, Nickelodeon kids were generally more well-adjusted than their Disney counterparts. She has nothing but good things to say about iCarly stars Nathan Kress and Jennette McCurdy, who didn’t seem to participate in the same dangerous partying and would even remember her from past gigs. (For what it’s worth, a few Redditors put forward the theory that she’s the 19-year-old Jennette.)
Another starlet who’s actually nice is Selena Gomez. In fact, she sounds like a sweetheart: She’s tiny (INSANELY thin!) in person and a lot more silly/less reserved IRL than I think she comes across in interviews.

Update: BlindGossip claims that they called out Demi in their latest blind item — about a supposedly sober starlet snorting coke — and now she’s allegedly entered rehab.

Sorry, but I really cannot buy this. This so-called ‘insider’ sounds fishy somehow. That nobody comments about the fact that she first said that she knew that Demi used coke. But later on she said that she was not that sure that it was actually true is a bit disappointing.

You have to be an idiot to not use this angle for a hell of a comeback. This has been done before and America loves a comeback story so why wouldn’t Demi lovato use the tale of her treatment to her advantage?

Smells like bull shit to me. The fact that it’s on reddit doesn’t change the fact that this story smells fake as hell. This isn’t the first time reddit approved of a comment solely for hits purposes.
