In the “last time on” segment, Tyra doesn’t say anything about Erin until she lists the remaining girls. I wonder if that means anything?
After commercial break, we learn even Erin is amazed she’s still around. So is Nicole, who thinks Erin’s too concerned with what other people think of her. Nicole is completely in love with modeling and Laura wants to model so she can provide for her family. There’s no time for dramatic backstories though, because it’s time to hula!
The girls learn the basics of both traditional hula and hip hop hula. Each girl will need to choreograph a traditional hula solo that will tell their own story. After practicing, Miss J shows up and tells the girls the winner gets a 5-day trip to the Four Seasons in Maui. That’s a pretty sweet prize.
Since we are down to four girls, everyone is getting more narration time. The more screen time Nicole gets, the more I like her. The more screen time Jen gets, the less I like her. It’s like she’s trying to be a character or a personality. So much squawking!
Jen does is the best quote of the night when she declares “I bet Laura know how to get freaky in the club!” The judges agree and choose Laura as the winner! She chooses Jen as her vacationing partner.
The photo shoot is inspired by Pele, the Hawaiian goddess of volcanoes. The girls get excited by the concept, but Jay bursts their bubble quickly when he announces that this week is a double elimination.
I like the idea of no final three because I find the final episode in most cycles to be rushed. They should dedicate an hour to the final three and an hour to the final two. At least this way, we get a full hour for the top two.
During the photo shoot, Jen appears to struggle, Nicole is amazing, Laura couldn’t pull it all together and Erin refuses to flirt with the camera until she sings “those pop songs teenagers listen to” in her head. The photographer is very blunt and doesn’t encourage the girls much. I know it’s not his job, but it affects the vibe of the shoot.
At panel, the judges love Erin’s photo, are meh on Jen’s and Laura’s, and like Nicole’s. Nicole is called first, leaving Jen, Erin and Laura on the chopping block. Tyra calls Laura’s name, sending Jen and Erin home.

Did you like the photo shoot concept? It was pretty. I wanted it to be at an actual volcano, but it was still pretty.
Whose photo was the best? The worst? Erin’s was really good. Jennifer’s was the worst for me.
Did Laura’s outfit deserve a makeover? I don’t know. But it didn’t get better when they made it over.

It might have been more meaningful if it actually was incorporated into the photo shoot.

Jen or Laura, but props to Nicole, and I thought it wasn’t fair that they were on Erin’s case about hers being depressing- it’s legitimate creative territory.

Someone else, but if I have to choose between them, then Laura.

I like that things are being switched-up but I’ll have to watch to finale to determine whether I think it was successfully executed.

I was a bit confused as to what exactly they were looking for, I was honestly with Erin on it: volcano goddess would look a bit angry, right? I was thinking intensity, volatility- things to match “volcano” and the waves crashing into the rocks as well.
Whose photo was the best? The worst?
I thought Erin’s photo was the best, but I wouldn’t be able to get “volcano goddess” from just looking at any of them, and if someone told me that was the concept, I’d be like, “huh!?”, except for Nicole’s, where I’d be like, “oh… I can see that…”.
I like Laura, but I thought her photo was the worst.
Did Laura’s outfit deserve a makeover?
Not really. It just seems like a running gag or a habit of the judges or something at this point.
Did Nicole deserve the first call-out?
Yes, while I thought Erin’s photo was aesthetically better and more believable for a picture in say a magazine, but Nicole’s strayed the least from the concept. Also, given that it was a good picture, even if it wasn’t the best out of the four, good picture this time + past performance makes her the top candidate for the top two. Given that the next episode is the top two, and seeing as she deserves being in the top two the most, she shouldn’t have to go through being in the bottom, even if it’s the bottom three. In other words, because this week, only one out of the four girls was not going to be in the bottom, i.e. up for elimination, she deserved to be that one by default given a good performance this week and prior.
Did Laura snub Erin in the call-out or was that a weird edit?
I didn’t get that at all. I don’t even know where this came from. Anyway, Girls who have been eliminated thus far have been consistent with comments regarding Laura as a “sweet girl”, so it’s more likely unintentional edit- though once again, I don’t recall seeing anything like that.
Do you agree with the final two?
I agree with Nicole being there, but I keep going back and forth between Laura and Erin. The problem is even given Nicole’s awkwardness and lack of commercial appeal, in terms of the total package, Laura isn’t on par with Nicole. Erin on the other hand also lacks the commercial appeal, but has also fallen so far from grace and currently emotionally too preoccupied for her to be a worthy adversary until she can pick herself up again. Basically, right now, all the cards seemed to be dealt highly in Nicole’s favor, and her consistent past performance pretty much consolidates her as the winner- else, it makes little sense. She just has to perform decently during the finale at least or badly only if Laura also performs as such. Basically, as long as there isn’t a huge gap in performance during the finale in Laura’s favor, the stars have pretty much aligned for Nicole’s victory.
Have you guys seen the preview for this week? Some of the eliminated girls are back! Brittnay, Jen, Erin and possibly Rae! Watch carefully at 0:10 and 0:11- you will see them! You may have to pause it haha.

Hi everyone,
Sorry I haven’t posted in a few days. I went to a conference for my day job from Thurs-Sun and the hotel’s internet was crappy and expensive. Instead of shelling out the $15 a day I was expected to pay, I just didn’t bother.
I’m home now and will be catching up today and tomorrow, including my interviews with Erin and Jen.

Did you like the photo shoot concept? Yeah, but I wish they went FURTHER with the concept. Laura’s and Erin’s dresses colors were so wrong for me for the concept- a fire goddess should be more interesting. Also, nicole’s earrings. I would have preferred a picture that was FIREY. They looked like sea women.
Whose photo was the best? The worst? I liked the pictures, but they could have picked a better one of Nicole. Laura’s was probably just like Erin’s critique: One picture of the lot came out beautiful. She sure was akward.

What did you think of the hip hop hula challenge? I think at this point the challenges aren’t as much about being successful as showing you’ll give it a shot without whining. Good thing Sundai was gone.
Whose hula solo was the best? I didn’t like the solos, particularly for the weird grins, but I think Jennifer’s was the best (just judging the solo part).
If you won the trip, who would you take along? Not sure – but we thought it was a FRIEND friend, from home, who would get to go and were disappointed it was an ANTM friend.
What do you think of having no final three? Mixed – I like the hour on last two, but would prefer an hour on last three and have a double elimination earlier in the process when we could really use the shake-up.
Did you like the photo shoot concept? I did like it; I was surprised they didn’t discuss the timing at panel, though.
Whose photo was the best? The worst? Jen’s was the worst, we thought she looked like she had been slapped. I did like her personality at panel and at the shoot, but not in the interviews. I think Nicole’s was the best. Taken on their own, Erin’s was close, but in the context of the show I’m so tired of that same expression on Erin’s face and thought Nicole brought something new.
Did Laura’s outfit deserve a makeover? Yes, but Erin’s outfit looked like she just came from the gym, I can’t believe that wasn’t mentioned either.
Did Nicole deserve the first call-out? Interesting that only the girl with the first callout didn’t get the criticism from Tyra, so it was almost an advantage to get the second callout. But, yet, Nicole deserved it.
