The episode opens with Nicole and Laura sharing what they’ve overcome – Laura being from a small town and not having a lot of options and Nicole overcoming extreme shyness. Laura and Nicole appear to be true friends, which should make this episode interesting. The girls are given scripts for a commercial the next day. Laura freaks out because of her dyslexia.
Even though it’s only a final two, the procedure is the same – Nicole and Laura will film a CoverGirl commercial and shoot a print ad. Teyona shows up to give the girls advice and her reading is really flat. Hopefully Nicole and Laura learn what not to do from Teyona. Nicole impresses Nigel with her beauty and professionalism on set. Unsurprisingly, Laura struggles with her commercial, but brings it in the end. Nicole is the surprise and has a hard time not sounding “snotty.” She wins line of the night when she says “I’d rather have boogers in my nose on national television than sound snotty.” Nigel is less impressed with Laura’s photograph as he can’t really get her to convey emotion.
After some reflection, Ann Shoket shows up and completely pulls a Tyra by squealing and hugging the girls and putting on a fake French accent when introducing Gilles Bensimon. She even gets a confessional about the girls performances! If the rumors about Miss J prove true, I’d put money on Ann taking his seat permanently on the judging panel.
Tyra stops by for one-on-one interviews with Laura and Nicole. We get the spiels about Nicole’s shyness and Laura’s dyslexia. Laura completely breaks down when talking about her grandma, it’s adorable. After the bonding, it’s time for the runway show! The big surprise is that Jen, Erin, Brittany and Sundai were all brought back to walk in the show. They’ve done this every cycle, but this is the first time they actually showed them. They also did Project Runway style interviews with the eliminated contestants and asked who they wanted to win. Sundai is rooting for Laura and Brittany is rooting for Nicole. I have no idea who is going to win!
Eddie Murphy did show up! I love how the show makes it look like he’s here for Top Model and not his model daughter. Nicole’s walk is rather clunky, but is filled with confidence. Laura’s walk is smooth, but lacks any oomph. When they go out for wind, both girls are fierce. For their third trip down the runway, both are better than their first trip.
During panel, only Tyra and Nigel speak. Where’s Mr. Jay? Isn’t he usually a final panel judge? And why isn’t Miss J saying hardly anything? Regardless, the judge give both girls positive and negative feedback and it’s hard to tell who is going to take home the prize.
After a thorough and logical deliberation, Nicole is declared the winner! Laura is so sad and my heart breaks for her. Either girl would have been a solid choice.

Are you surprised Nicole won? No, they both deserved it. I was so happy for Nicole and sad for Laura, I wish they BOTH could have won. They were my favorites from the beggining.

- I didn’t overly enjoy it, but it didn’t make that much of a difference to me

- Lauras! It may be that i am biased to her but I couldn’t believe how well she did. And she had personality which nicole completely lacked.

-Once again im going to say Laura’s. Nicole’s doesn’t look like a covergirl add, she looks to reserved

- Not particularly! I think she is too old for Seventeen, and they need to hire someone new and more relatable.
What did you think of the runway show concept?
-I loved it! Especially the wind part. I actually gasped when laura took off that fabric, she looked stunning!
Who walked the runway better?
-Definelty Laura. Nicole walked like a cowboy. Too much shoulder and clunk in her step. Laura looked much more graceful, and as Tyra would say “seasoned”
Are you surprised Nicole won?
- I am so surprised and really dissapointed. I thought for sure laura had it and I think she deserved it (if you couldn’t tell that by the rest of my post haha). Laura is much more relatable and if your going to be a covergirl, personality is a must. I was so sad Laura didn’t win, but I wish her all the best in the future!

What did you think of the runway show concept? It was ok. I liked the “wind” part, the rest was just ok for me. I did love that designer’s clothes though.
Who walked the runway better? Laura. I mean TONS better. I love Nicole, but that walk was a mess. And calling it “signature”? I don’t know. I mean you can’t call a mess signature and make it ok.
Are you surprised Nicole won? Not at all. I mean Laura was so darling and sweet I wanted her to win just for that. But overall I think Nicole was amazing and she seems to be a cool girl. So I’m happy.
I really do think Laura will be getting work. I mean if I was booking a campaign right now I’d definately want Laura to audition for it. I love her and her charm and think she appeals to women and men. Love her.
But Nicole, STUNNING. I can’t wait to see what all she does!
Did you like jumping right into a final two?=yes because this year final two were my favorites and I’m glad they got more screen time.
Whose CG commercial was better?=Both of them, they both need to work on some issues. I love Laura accent, but like Nigel mentioned her annunciation wasn’t easy to listen to. On the other hand I think that Nicole had the best voice I could just listen to her talk like that in any commercial, just wish she talk more like that all the time.
Whose CG ad was better?=Nicole, I thought Laura could have done so much better but in the end, side by side, I immediately look at Nicole’s.
Do you like Ann Shoket?=Nope, she’s not like Nina Garcia or those from the other magazine shows, she’s not critical enough to encourage the girl more.
What did you think of the runway show concept?=Mr. Jay definitely knows how to put on a show, everything, the set up the cloths was beautiful to watch.
Who walked the runway better?=Laura did, but it wasn’t something that makes you notice her. Nicole runway was excruciating to watch but they both could improve.
Are you surprised Nicole won?=Nope, I was kind of hoping for a shocker that Tyra would finally have two winners instead of just one. But I would have been happy if Laura had won also because she’s so sweet. They both work so hard during the whole competition and I’m so glad that they weren’t involve too much in house drama. They both have the potential to go far as long as they keep on improving/evolving their talent. In the end I can’t fault the judges for choosing Nicole. I mentioned before, the final were just going to be Nicole vs. just anybody.
YES YES YES!!! My darling Nicole won the lot, stock and beauty barrel! I was rooting for the two of them until this episode, when Laura started bad mouthing Nicole in her confessionals. Nicole had nothing but sweet things to say about Laura and even stated she needed to ‘step up her game’ to beat her.
I also was getting sick of everyone calling Nicole snotty and fake. She is a little monotone but her commercial was beautiful and it was completely her own personality, and not some fake ditsy model. (I was surprised Tyra suggested she should act like in between her lines, tsk tsk). Laura’s lack of depth of character was really why she wasn’t chosen, but I hope she does make it somehow.
Last years choice was a mess. Teyona sounded dreadful in this episode and clearly she was reading off a terribly written cue card. YIKES! Little girls at home don’t become that please.
I guess the last thing to post for this cycle is (and it takes great pleasure in saying)… Easy, Breasy, Beautiful, Nicole’s a COVER GIRL!

– I didn’t like it at the beginning but the finale was surprisingly good.

– I liked both. It was quite funny according to different people Nicole was “snotty” (Mr Jay)and “likable”(Tyra)

– No, and I don’t want her as a judge.

– I like the idea of including the eliminated girls. Did they really do this in the past? I would love to see other girls’ walks, too.

– Kind of… I thought she should win, and the girls I choose never win:)
I think both girls deserved the title. On the other hand, I think being the runner-up is sometimes better

Actually, no. I felt that jumping into final two did not give Jennifer a chance to redeem herself. But I’m most definitely satisfied with the final two.

I felt both of them did equally good.
Whose CG ad was better?
Definitely Nicole. Like Tyra said, she looked relaxed but confident at the same time. Laura’s CG ad was plain boring, although she looked pretty.
Do you like Ann Shoket?
No. No. No.
What did you think of the runway show concept?
I feel that the concept was very plain and uninteresting, unlike Cycle 11 where there was those wacky runway steps and hills. This cycle’s runway show was just eh.
Who walked the runway better?
Both did an amazing job. Laura had a better walk but Nicole stood out.
Are you surprised Nicole won?
No. She totally deserved this and she looks like a model in person and in her photos. Nicole has always been consistent in her photoshoots and Laura has been week in her photos the past few weeks. Like what Tyra said, Nicole is a high fashioned model. She totally deserved this!

- eh, i’m indifferent on this issue- i didnt like having to wait till the end to see the covergirl ads/ commercial though

- they both were excellent– Laura kind of popped more, just because her eyes really stand out, especially with the make up they gave her, but i like looking at Nicole better– but they both did an amazing job, and the commercial was so cute!

- NICOLES!!! for sure, it was sultry, sexy, exotic, yet very covergirl, very commercial, and very relatable! Nicole was acting, she gives a HUGE variety of looks! Laura’s was very good as well, but Nicole’s just popped, I could look at it all day!
4)Do you like Ann Shoket?
- everyone seems to dislike her, which i think is pretty funny! Personally I don’t mind her, though I don’t think she’s very knowledgeable about the fashion world/ modeling industry… though if Miss Jay leaves, Ann Shoket would NOT be a good replacement– they need a crazy personality, first Janice, then Miss Jay, they need someone who could fill both of their shoes… dont know who that could be though.
5) What did you think of the runway show concept?
- can’t we just go back to normal runway shows!! it wasnt too bad, but I would prefer a simple runway show…
6) Who walked the runway better?
- I think I just have a bias towards Nicole, but I enjoyed watching her in the runway show most.. though her walk was a little heavy, and awkward ( the panel was right though, saying it was signature– and look at Karlie Kloss, her walk is awkward, and who isnt she walking for!) Laura did have a better flow, though it looked like she was just walking down the street… Nicole looked the part too, Laura just looked like a pretty girl!
Are you surprised Nicole won?
- I am not, I think overall she was much stronger– though Laura was fantastic too!
First off, I love how there wouldn’t even be a show if they didn’t bring back a bunch of Top Models. But the show wasn’t bad.
Secondly, while Nicole was always my favourite, Laura did better overall this episode. With that said, I was hoping Laura would win so that she’d be stuck with all this Top Model stuff to come (like participating in fake runway shows and being on the Tyra show). Everyone knows that the girl who wins Top Model never has an actual career. So I was really hoping Nicole would lose so that she’d get signed and hopefully do some real modeling.
I also have to say that I was shocked that the real modelly type actually won! This is the first time a “weird”, shy girl who looks like a high fashion model actually won…I was left speechless. I hate to say it though, but I think Nicole’s chances of being a successful model went out the window with this title.

Bof… it’s okay for me! But I would have preferred jumping from final 5 to final 3, like this there would have been 1 hour for the final 3 and 1 hour for the final 2, which could have make it interesting.
Whose CG commercial was better? Both had their ups and downs. Maybe Laura, cuz it was pretty good, knowing she had dyslexia.
Whose CG ad was better? Surely Nicole, I did not like Laura’s, I think she had better pictures!
Do you like Ann Shoket? Bof….not really, too fake sometimes and too wannabe Tyra Banks
What did you think of the runway show concept? Great idea, great concept with all the glittering, the water, the wind! Really interesting.
Who walked the runway better? Laura for sure, especially in the wind and the water, she looked professional. We could really see Tyra’s face being bored while Nicole is walking but when it was Laura’s turn, she was smiling… It’s interesting that Tyra was not that much excited during runway compared to the other cycles.
Are you surprised Nicole won? Yes and No… Laura had more personnality and was better in Runway but Nicole did good job in photoshoots…….but Nicole is just a second Allison for me so that is why I was a little suprised…

Whose CG commercial was better? They were both okay…not great. It’s not a big deal since they never use the spots anyway.
Whose CG ad was better? Really, I pretty much never like the CG pics. They always look unnatural and have been photoshopped to death. That being said, Nicole’s was better than Laura’s. Although Nicole had a smirk/come hither look on her face that didn’t really work but this is typical of the pics chosen.
Do you like Ann Shoket? I prefer not to see her. I absolutely don’t like it when she’s on panel. She gives off the vibe of someone who was tormented by the mean girls and is now taking it out on the wannabe models. She was okay tonight.
What did you think of the runway show concept? I liked the runway show in that it wasn’t over-the-top. But in reality, none of these girls is doing runway.

Are you surprised Nicole won? I’m shocked considering the history of this show. Just because a girl has a strong portfolio doesn’t guarantee her a win. So I’m happy Nicole won even if she isn’t the shortest model to win (C3 Eva). I hope Wilhelmina does right by her and doesn’t ship her off to say Asia like Elite has done with most of the ANTM girls. Laura was more CG/17 and commercial and would have been a good winner but Nicole can be both commercial and editorial and can have a more well rounded career with proper guidance.

Absolutely, but cutting from 4 to 2 girls was just brutal, and i hated seeing jen go home..

laura, considering the dyslexia thing… nicole sounded drunk, stoned, and snotty all at once. she looked good, though.

lauras. i swear im not being prejudiced because i wanted laura to win. her pics were always so gorgeous, and her eyes are always so piercing.. and the “milkshakes” thing is something tyra taught, right? so if nigel mentioned that he thought it was dumb, someone should have explained to him that he was bashing tyra’s idea…

umm. no. when she came in and screeched and hugged them, i thought the same thing.. shes trying to be tyra, and shes not. and i dont even really LIKE tyra.
What did you think of the runway show concept?
i loved it. for the commercials i thought, uh oh, this is gonna be dumb, but it wasnt. the part where they tore off the fabric was awesome. and the fact that the eliminated girls were featured was really cool.
Who walked the runway better?
laura, of course. she wasnt perfect, but she looked great, especially her face. and nicole looked like she either wasnt trying to walk well, or she was so tired or drunk that she cjust couldnt do it… i am sorry that sounds so harsh but isnt it true? did she get any good critique for that walk?

yup. i heard the spoiler that shed win but as i watched the episode i was convinced that everyone was mistaken. i thought it made nooo sense for laura to not win. i dont understand it. when you take everything into consideration – the versatility in pictures, the personalities, the runway, the commercials, the covergirl pictures, etc – it seems strange to me for the way things turned out. nicole did admirably but not better than laura.
however, hopefully laura can now use her non-win as an advantage.. go out and work hard to get what she wants. for her, i dont think she will have to work quite so hard, though.
oh and one last thing: please, teyona… shut up. that speech was so practiced. sheesh.
