Vanessa Williams was, indeed, at the presidential inauguration yesterday, and played a bigger role than I thought. The Ugly Betty star performed at the Neighborhood Inaugural Ball last night.
This is the one that was aired live on ABC last night, where President Obama had the already-famous dance with his wife Michelle as Beyoncé sang “At Last”.
I’m hoping there will be video forthcoming – unfortunately, my household seems to have been stricken by The Plague, and I missed the broadcast last night. All I know is that I don’t know if Williams has ever looked more beautiful than she does in this photo.
Does anyone know what Vanessa sang last night? Most of the news stories seem to be focusing on the other celebrities, and if you didn’t watch it live, it almost seems like it’s impossible to find out.
Of course, Vanessa will be back on Ugly Betty tomorrow night, in episode 3.12, Sisters on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown. Her character Wilhelmina, if you recall, has just hooked up with her super-crush Connor. I’m really looking forward to seeing how this develops.

Vanessa did not sing on camera.But i did notice that she kept reading the telepromter wrong. she kept saying “text OBAMA T O 55293″ she actually spelled out TO. Im not sure if anyone else caught that. but she did look beautiful!
I think that Vanessa only did hosting duties. It’s possible that she might have done a song or two at the party after the broadcast ended, though.
Ironically, the Neighborhood Ball took place in my neighborhood, so I’ll ask around to see if any of my friends or co-workers were there. If so, I’ll try to get some more Vanessa Williams details.
