She is one of the biggest superstars in music history and holds sales records worldwide.
She was chosen because she is an icon mega superstar and despite being on hiatus can still draw huge ratings.

I can live with them all but Victoria Beckham, give me a break, she is just a snoody miserable person….who cares what she thinks…I think this might hurt the show..Paula, weird but unique. She makes american idol. We’ll see

How is Shania not a superstar? Internationally known, 5 Grammys, 27 BMI Songwriter awards, over 75 million albums sold worldwide to date including 48 million in the USA alone, etc. etc. What more could be lacking from her resume?
She’s been gone for a while, but her brand of country still owns the charts as Carrie, Taylor, and so on have proved.

Guest judges rule. Idol needs a judge who brings buzz. Plus it would be weird if no one on the panel has sung before large crowds and dealt w/ stuff.

I get what you’re saying and no these judges aren’t necessary, but maybe they’ll bring something new and exciting to Idol! And btw, you missed one more judge who’s been comfirmed to guest judge this season…KATY PERRY!!
