Arrested Development is Coming Back! No, Really!

By now Arrested Development’s return has been announced so often I stopped clicking on the headlines. The promise of more Bluth is tempting, but you can only get your hopes up so many times. This time it looks like it really is going to come off with a major caveat; it might not feature all the original actors. Oh Arrested Development, just when you’ve made us happy, you have to knock us down.

The cult TV show will be airing new episodes online through Netflicks Instant watch starting in 2013. However, as Variety reports, “All of the series regulars have expressed interest in returning and are expected back, though no deals have been done.” It’s always hard for a show to keep going when one of it’s stars leaves (see-The Office) but it would be especially hard to imagine Arrested continuing sans any Bluth or Funke. What would the series be without thespian asspirations of Tobias, or Maeby and George-Michael’s forbidden love?

For those of us who want to remain optimistic, there’s Jason Bateman’s tweet, “Netflix is gassing up the staircar! I don’t think I’ve ever been happier to wear a pair of khakis,” which seems to imply he’ll be stepping into Michael Bluth’s shoes again.
